And so it begins! The wonderful team from Davis Scaffolding arrived yesterday morning to get the church ready for the Bell extraction. Church Services will continue as normal, and the front entrance will still be in use.

This evening, Jenny was officially admitted to the office of Church Warden for the Parish of Woodley, St. John the Evangelist! A special service was held at St. Paul’s Church in Wokingham where Church Wardens from across the Deanery responded to The Archdeacon’s Charge and made their oaths before The Registrar.

“Christ Be Our Light.” Yesterday, 16 candidates were confirmed by the Bishop of Reading, the Rt Revd Mary Gregory at St John's, Woodley.

It was such a joyous occasion! Thank you everyone who came along and those who took part—such as those who came in the day before to clean the church, those who organised and served food and drinks after the service, those who decorated, those who worked with the audio, those who wardened the service and all those who have been praying for the candidates. Make sure to mark your diaries. On Sunday 24th May at 4pm, the Bishop of Reading, the Rt Revd. Mary Gregory, will be taking the Confirmation Service here at St. John's Church in Woodley.

We are so thrilled to be joined by two other churches in the Deanery, as 16 candidates will be stepping forward to affirm their faith and receive Communion.

Do come join us. There will be refreshments in the Church Centre after the service.

What a delight to see our wonderful verger, Lorna Godwin, at the Buckingham Palace Garden Party yesterday. For over 30 years, Lorna has opened her heart and home to vulnerable adults through the charity PSS Shared Lives. We are so proud of Lorna and thrilled that her hard work and dedication has been recognised by His Majesty, King Charles. We can't wait to hear all the stories when Lorna and the girls get back.
