The Woden pack enjoyed another lovely evening by the river, trying out food from our natural resources and a big thanks to Matt Driver for running a really interesting foraging tour. The cubs bravely tried everything, even the plants that were a little punchy. Mud was also involved for some πŸ™„

It was the inaugural Intra-Scouts Sports Championships* at Kingston Field last night between Monday and Friday Scouts and didn't we have fun! There were thrills (including an impressive 50m dash, a welly-wanging triumph** and a bleep test battle), spills (when the leaders fell over during tug of war), certificates and Celebrations. Mondays were ultimately victorious, but there's always next year, Fridays!

πŸš΄β€β™‚οΈπŸš΄β€β™€οΈ This week Monday Beavers became Bike Doctors! πŸš΄β€β™€οΈπŸš΄β€β™‚οΈ

As part of our work towards the Cycling Activity Badge, the Beavers got hands-on learning how to keep their bikes safe and ready for adventure before our cycle ride in a couple of weeks.

The Beavers took part in four activity stations where they learned how to:
πŸ”§ Check their tyres and add air
πŸ›‘ Understand how brakes work and why they're important
🧼 Clean and care for a bike chain
πŸ” Carry out safety checks and spot common bike problems

We also learned the all-important ABC check:
A = Air
B = Brakes
C = Chain

It was fantastic to see everyone getting involved, learning new skills and showing great teamwork. We're looking forward to putting these new skills into practice when we head out on our bike ride soon!

Well done, Bike Doctors! πŸš²πŸ‘

The weather cleared for a beautiful night on the river this evening. Woden had a go at rowing a pulling boat and we had 3 power boats out where the cubs had a chance to take the helm and steer. Thanks to all the helpers who made it a special night!

πŸŒŠπŸ›Ÿ Beavers Water Safety Night πŸ›ŸπŸŒŠ
Unfortunately, the weather wasn't kind to us this week, so we had to swap our planned time on the water for an indoor adventure. But that didn't stop us learning some really important life skills!
The Beavers discovered how to stay safe around water by: πŸͺ’ Practising rope throws to help rescue someone safely from the bank. 🏝️ Taking part in a fun "Water Safety Island" quiz game, testing their knowledge of hazards and safe choices. πŸ’™ Learning all about the RNLI's "Float to Live" technique and why staying calm can save lives. 🎨 Creating some fantastic water safety posters to help spread the message.
A huge well done to everyone for throwing themselves into the activities and showing great teamwork. Hopefully the weather will be kinder next time and we'll be back out on the water soon! πŸš£β€β™€οΈβš“
