It's Emily keeping up with her family on the school run. It's joining in on weekend bike rides. It's ordinary days that used to feel out of reach, made possible again.

Not every dream is a holiday abroad or a celebrity meet-and-greet. Sometimes it's two wheels and a helping hand.

Ever wondered what actually happens after a family clicks ‘submit’ on a Promise Dreams application?

There's no algorithm, no box-ticking. Every single application is read, considered and reviewed individually by us, real people making sure every child's dream gets a fair hearing.

From there, our small team works out what the dream actually needs, whether that's a holiday, a piece of specialist equipment, or five minutes with a hero, and makes it happen.

We've always been proud that fundraisers know exactly where their money goes. No jargon, no admin black hole, just dreams, funded and delivered.

Do you know a child who is seriously or terminally ill and might need our help? Applications are open to any child aged 0–18 years.

For World Mental Health Day, we're thinking about something that can sometimes be overlooked: the impact that serious illness can have on the mental health and wellbeing of the whole family.

When a child is seriously or terminally ill, family life can become centred around hospital appointments, treatment, sleepless nights, worry and uncertainty.

And while the focus quite rightly has to be on the child, mums, dads, brothers and sisters are living through it too.
That's why, when we make a dream come true, we know it's about more than the child.

It's about giving the whole family something positive to look forward to. A chance to step away from hospital appointments and everyday worries, spend time together, make memories and simply enjoy being a family.

We can't take away the difficult moments these families face, but we can help create moments of happiness, laughter and something wonderful to remember.

This World Mental Health Day, we're recognising the importance of supporting the whole family, because sometimes a little bit of happiness and time together can mean more than we realise. 💙

Ask ten families what their dream means and you'll get ten different answers.

For some, it's a holiday that can't wait until ‘someday.’ For others, it's five minutes with their hero, or a specialist trike that means keeping up with the school run, or the equipment that makes an ordinary Tuesday a little easier.

There's no set list. Every application is reviewed individually by our trustees, because every child, and every family, is different.

In 25 years we've granted nearly 2,000 dreams.

£3000 isn't just a figure it's a dream.

It's not a holiday. It's the last time a family got to just be a family, no hospital corridors, no waiting rooms, no diagnosis in the room with them. Just them.

We can't change what a child is facing. But for 25 years, we've been able to give families one more good day to hold onto.

This year, to mark our 25th anniversary, we set out to fund 25 dreams, £50,000 in total. We're not there yet. Every pound, every share, every fiver from a payday brings us closer.

💙 Lovely words from Rosie’s family 💙

“We are so grateful to Promise Dreams for their very generous donation towards Rosie’s dream bath. They were very quick to respond to our application and it was an emotional phone call when Vickie from Promise Dreams rang to say they would like to support us! The new bath will mean Rosie can continue to enjoy her daily bathtime and all the therapeutic benefits that come with warm water immersion for her tired body after busy days of physiotherapy and exercises. When we started this project we thought she might have to put up with a shower in future but she really does love a bath and gets so much benefit from it so we are delighted to have found the right – rather expensive – bath model for her and that Promise Dreams have made that affordable.”

This is a wonderful example of how a practical dream can be just as special and meaningful as a treat or experience. Sometimes, something that makes everyday life a little easier can bring just as many smiles and create very special memories for a child and their family. ✨
