Members attending UNISON conferences in the UK are expected to attend at least 70% of Conference. If this does not happen then the Branch has the right to recover any monies paid to the member. The reason the branch believes this to be appropriate is that any money paid to delegates from branch funds is money we have received from other members in their subscriptions and conference is the opportunity to add to the UNISON democracy by attending as much as possible.
If for any reason you are not able to attend conference fully on any day it is expected you will inform your branch contact, and all cases will be considered on an individual basis.
Overall, attending a UNISON conference is an opportunity for members to engage in meaningful discussions contribute to the union's policies, and build a strong voice for theirissues within the workplace.
They are encouraged to participate actively in the planning and ex*****on of the conference agenda.
Members are also expected to represent their branch or service group at the conference, where they can vote on behalf of their local branch members.
The conferences provide a platform for members to share their experiences, campaign for their specific issues, and organize events around the concerns that affect them. Members are also encouraged to develop their skills and knowledge through the many Members Group, which works with other parts of the union to promote recruitment, organization, and participation.
They are expected to provide a written report to the branch after the conference and submit it to the branch.
