Call Directions Website

We are a small independent rescue devoted to sighthounds in need. Every hound who arrives becomes part of our family and stays as long as they need.

We provide safety, love, and dedicated care until they find a forever sofa to call their own. Celia Cross Greyhound Trust became a registered Charity in 1993, following a move to Sun Valley Farm, which is our home today. Sun Valley is based in outer Guildford on approximately 12 acres of stunning Surrey Hills countryside. Surrounded by woodland and rolling hillsides it really is heaven for our rescue hounds. The kennels boast a fully enclosed 6 acre field where the dogs are exercised multiple times a day, as well as luxury kennels with under bed heating, soft fluffy duvets and access to their own outside run! Dogs are assessed on arrival and their lives put back together. Our dedicated team of staff and volunteers help many a traumatised hound adjust to a new and loving environment. We aim to heal not only physical wounds- some from the track and others that indicate prolonged abuse- but the emotional wounds that are not always immediately obvious. Each dog who comes through our gates is allowed to settle in at their own pace, and if they wish, will be kennelled with another dog so they can socialise, snuggle up and play just as dogs should. We work hard to make sure our dogs are happy, spoiled rotten and we strive to create a homely family feel in our kennels for our residents until they are ready to be placed into the right home. Sun Valley is in the safe hands of Jane Thompson. Jane has dedicated her life to dogs, working with them for over 30 years. She is supported by a board of fellow trustees, fabulous Kennel staff and an extensive team of valued volunteers.

I’d like to introduce you all to a beautiful senior lady who has found her way to Sun Valley after her owner has had to sadly go into a care home.
Gorgeous Amber needed a safe space to call home and we were gladly happy to step up to give her a loving place to call hers until we find her a new family to call her own.
Please give a gentle welcome to lovely Amber.

I have another happy tail to tell you all.
Our gorgeous Polly has left us to start her new life with Mike, Gina and ex Sun Valley boy Buzz.
Gorgeous Polly who will now be known as Molly was a bit too comfy with her new mum on the chair to pose properly for her gotcha pic so we know that Molly is going to take to home life like a pro.
Be a happy girl, Molly. You really have been such a joy for us to love during your stay with us.

I have a fabulous happy tail to share with you all!
Our gorgeous Jazz has been given the express checkout and left us today to begin her exciting new life with Tara & Mence.
Lucky Jazz is going to have the most wonderful life with her new family, and we couldn’t be happier for her.

Tara & Mence are already very well known here at Sun Valley, having previously adopted some of our gorgeous SV hounds. So, we know our beautiful girl is going to be cherished and loved just as she deserves.
And there’s an extra special connection too, as Tara is our wonderful organiser of the Horsham collections, supporting our hounds in so many ways.
Jazz, darling girl, your next chapter starts today, and we couldn’t wish for a happier ending to your rescue story. May your days be filled with love, comfort, cuddles and all the happiness your heart could ever wish for.

Meet George.
As you can see, our beautiful George arrived with us in a rather sorry state.
Not only is he desperately underweight and suffering from painful wounds to his feet, but, heartbreakingly, his beautiful feathered coat has been shaved off, leaving him exposed and vulnerable. 💔
Despite everything he has been through, George is an absolute gentleman. He has slotted into our little SV family as though he has always belonged here and is already lapping up all the love, fuss and attention he so deserves.
This sweet boy is so much more than the cruelty he has endured, and we refuse to let the vile actions of those who treated him so badly define the rest of his life.
Already, we can see George beginning to heal, both physically and emotionally. His beautiful spirit is shining through, his heart is full of love, and his zest for life is still very much alive. His coat will grow back in time, but the kindness and care he is receiving now will help him leave his awful past where it belongs.
Welcome to safety, darling George. Your next chapter starts here, surrounded by people who will love you just as you are.
