Cherry Trees UK

Cherry Trees UK Home-from-home care for children with complex disabilities and a meaningful break for their families.

Cherry Trees provides home from home respite care for children and young people with severe learning and physical disabilities. We recognise that these children are best looked after at home but, because of their very special needs, they require very special care, often 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It’s not surprising then that from time to time both they and their families need a break. Che

rry Trees is that special place, providing professional care in a safe and loving environment, where every child is valued for who they are. It is a community that values them and enables them to spend time with friends whilst their families have a much-needed break. Set in the peaceful village of East Clandon, near Guildford, Cherry Trees provides a high quality service within a relaxed and caring setting. Founded in 1980 by a group of parents and doctors, Cherry Trees has become a lifeline for the families of more than 100 children and young people who are regularly cared for here – for a few hours, a weekend or even a couple of weeks.

We had such a wonderful time last weekend bringing children from both of our homes together.

Our team down at Cherry Trees – Goldcrest Lodge created a magical ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’ themed day, complete with tea, sandwiches and decorations. 🐯

From getting creative with splash artwork in the garden (with water pistols and paint), to enjoying the bubble machine and fun games like “Pin the Tail on the Tiger” - there was something for everyone!

We loved making the most of the sunshine and we look forward to spending many more days together. 🌞

🏌️‍♂️What a fantastic time we had at The Drift Golf Club’s Senior Invitational on Monday!

120 golfers from across the South East came together on a gorgeous sunny day, and we were delighted to support their fundraising efforts for Cherry Trees as part of the Captain’s Charity of the Year support.

It was wonderful to be joined by Alison, a member of our communications team and one of our parents, who spoke to the players. It’s always so powerful for our supporters to hear first-hand about the difference their fundraising makes to our families.

We had a brilliant day all round, raising vital funds for Cherry Trees. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make it possible.

What a brilliant time we had on Sunday at Shere Open Gardens.

The sun was shining, there was a cheerful buzz in the air, and our stall was well and truly blooming thanks to so many kind donations.

Our community fundraiser Will and our volunteers Lindsay, Judith, Margaret and Nicole had a very busy day meeting and greeting visitors, and chatting away about Cherry Trees.

We were excited to hear the event had a record number of visitors this year, and would like to say an enormous thank you to Shere Open Gardens and to everyone who visited us and bought a plant or two. It was so lovely to hear such positive comments about the event and our stall.

Every penny helps makes a huge difference to the children and families we support. ❤️💚

As carers week draws to a close, we would like to reshare this short film.

Supporting families is at the core of what we do. We provide desperately needed respite and peace of mind to help prevent families from going into crisis.

At Cherry Trees, we are not just a children’s care home… we are a community showing up every day advocating for our children and families.

Our parent carers take on the world for their children and we are proud to be right there next to them.

💚 We would like to say a huge thank you to Paul from Liphook In Bloom for dropping off a wonderful donation of recycled bulbs recently.

🌱 We will be planting our new bulbs in October and are on the lookout for some volunteer gardeners to join us at Cherry Trees – Goldcrest Lodge. So, if we have any green-fingered supporters in the Hampshire area, we would love for you to get in touch!

This Sunday we are looking forward to running our plant sale at Shere Open Gardens where more than 15 private gardens will open to the public, each offering its own character and charm.

We will be set up alongside the museum, next to Shere Village Hall and we would love for you to come along and visit us between 1pm and 6pm.

Our stall will be blooming with choices including Roses, Lavender, African Daisies, a variety of Heuchera, H**e Summer Blue, Paonia, Geum Lady Stratheden, Cistus Salvifolius and more!

Thank you to Spring Reach Nursery West Horsley, Cedar Nursery - Plants and Outdoor Living, and Tozers Seeds Cobham for their kind donations. We are also so grateful to receive personal donations from our wonderful community including Peaslake Open Gardens.

Being a parent carer is a lifelong responsibility with thoughts and experiences that many people never see.

To be a parent, a nurse, an advocate, and an admin assistant all at once, all of the time is a huge number of roles for anyone. To have endless amounts of patience and love even on the hardest of days is emotionally, physically and mentally exhausting.

That is why what we do at Cherry Trees is so important, though we are just a small part of our children and their families’ support system we are there to offer whatever we can.

Our parent carers know that when their children visit us for a stay, they are happy and relaxed. They have the freedom to choose what they do and when they do it, treating our home like their own. This reassurance allows our parent carers a chance to rest and recharge knowing that their child is having fun and being cared for in a safe and loving environment.

We’ve crunched the numbers and we are delighted to share that Jazz in the Vineyard generated more than £11,000 to support the children and families who rely on us.

We want to say a massive thank you to all those who bought tickets and supported the event - from our guests, to our hosts at High Clandon Estate Vineyard and to the Sarah Jane Eveleigh Quintet. It was great to see so many people there enjoying the music, location and digging deep to show their support.

We also want to thank our raffle donors. We raffled off a luxury Surrey Hills Hamper and 10 runners up bottles of drink that were all donated by local businesses and residents. It proved to be quite the hit with 412 tickets being purchased and over £1,000 raised.

Thank you The Surrey Copper Distillery Limited, Silent Pool Gin, Harmony in Nature (Harmony Healing), Off Root - MTB Guide & Coach, Sarah Rawlins Artist, our hosts High Clandon Estate Vineyard and all the individuals who donated an item too.
