We're proud to be supporting the IKCC campaign ๐Ÿ’š

This year's focus is on emotional wellbeing. An often-overlooked aspect of living with kidney cancer.

According to the 2025 IKCC Global Patient Survey - 85% of kidney cancer patients experience an impact on their emotional wellbeing. Yet many never discuss how they're feeling with their family, friends, or healthcare team.

To help change that, the IKCC has created a simple wellbeing check-in tool, encouraging patients to reflect on their mental health and start important conversations about the emotional impact of kidney cancer.

No one should have to face the emotional challenges of kidney cancer alone ๐Ÿ’š

NEWS: New results from the international RAMPART trial have shown that a combination of immunotherapy drugs given after kidney cancer surgery can significantly reduce the risk of the cancer returning.

Researchers found that patients receiving durvalumab and tremelimumab were more likely to remain cancer-free three years after treatment compared to those receiving standard monitoring alone. The greatest benefit was seen in patients at the highest risk of recurrence.

For many people affected by kidney cancer, the fear of recurrence can be overwhelming. Advances like this offer real hope that more patients may be able to stay cancer-free for longer following surgery.

While further research is ongoing, these findings mark an important step forward in improving outcomes for people living with RCC (renal cell carcinoma), the most common form of kidney cancer.

Charlie is taking on the Edinburgh Marathon ๐Ÿ’ช

"The photo above is of my grandad running the Edinburgh Marathon back in 1983.

Being able to run the same race all these years later, in his memory, feels incredibly special and personal to me.

On top of that, this marathon represents something deeper in my own life. Iโ€™ve spent years dealing with chronic foot pain, and for a long time, running felt completely out of reach.

To be in a position where I can train for and run a marathon is something I'm very grateful for. The marathon is not just for me, but for my grandad too.

Iโ€™m raising money for Kidney Cancer UK to help support others affected by this disease.

If youโ€™re able to donate, it would mean a lot. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference. Thank you."

NEWS: Personalised kidney cancer care ๐Ÿ’š

Researchers have developed the new PREDICT-Kidney online tool to help patients and healthcare professionals make more informed decisions about follow-up care after kidney cancer surgery.

The tool was co-designed with patients, the public, and healthcare professionals across the UK, ensuring that patient voices were at the heart of its development. It provides personalised estimates of recurrence risk and presents information in clear visual formats to support shared decision-making.

This is an important step towards more transparent, patient-centred care and empowering people with the information they need after treatment.

NEWS: Encouraging new research for people living with non-clear cell kidney cancer ๐Ÿ’š

New data presented at ASCO GU 2026 showed that a combination of fruquintinib and serplulimab demonstrated promising results as a first-line treatment for metastatic or unresectable non-clear cell renal cell carcinoma (nccRCC).

The trial reported strong disease control rates and encouraging responses in patients, with researchers also noting that the treatment was generally well tolerated. While further studies are still needed, these findings offer hope for improved treatment options for a type of kidney cancer that has historically had fewer targeted therapies available.

NEWS: Promising new research for kidney cancer patients ๐Ÿ’š

Results from the FASTRACK II trial have shown that a highly targeted form of radiotherapy called SABR (stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy) could offer a safe and effective treatment option for some people with localised kidney cancer who are unable to have surgery.

The long-term findings showed excellent cancer control rates with very few serious side effects, giving more options to patients who may previously have had limited treatment options.

While surgery remains the standard treatment for many people with kidney cancer, studies like this are a step forward in expanding future treatment possibilities and improving patient choice.
