The Station Master's Community Wildlife Garden is a not-for-profit community led initiative in Whitley Bay, Tyne and Wear. The garden offers an opportunity for people to join in and experience the journey of sourcing food and reconnecting with the natural environment. There are accessible raised beds for food demonstration and growing, children friendly beds and wild spaces for natural play, events areas and sites for biodiversity (for bees, slow worms etc). It provides creative opportunities and openings for all ages to join in, keep active and connected, and maybe make a new friend.

A wonderful blustery Nature Club! We learnt about the new pond, created journey sticks with Whitley Bay Poetry Trail, made fantastic autumn leaf crowns, and even did some seed gathering from the wildflower meadow. Happy Autumn everyone!

Social Sunday - Sunday 11th October, 10:30-13:00
Sunday Social is back this month and there is lots to do in the garden. Please join us to help with some of the most urgent tasks. Key jobs to tackle will be composting, herb bed maintenance and clearing around and mulching the blackcurrant bushes. We have a good stock of tools, but if you have a pair of sharp secateurs, please bring them along.

Nature Club Saturday 10th Oct, 10:30

Some of you may have noticed that we are currently digging a new pond in the garden! We've had lots of interest from our young visitors and so Dorian will be explaining all about the new pond and the wildlife we hope to attract.

We'll also be joined by organisers from the Whitley Bay Poetry Trail. This year the theme is 'Ties and Tension'. They will help us explore this theme in the context of nature and the garden. For more information follow them on Facebook - Whitley Bay Poetry Trail.

We will have some autumn crafts, and some of our older Nature Clubbers may want to help rake leaves from the wildflower meadow.

If you've been in The Station Master's Garden recently, you'll have no doubt noticed that the pond has no water in it.
After a couple of years of patching holes, we've reached the point where the liner can no longer be repaired and the pond needs rebuilding, which won't be cheap.
If you'd like to help us raise money for this project, may we suggest donating to the following JustGiving page. Chris and Paul are raising money for the garden in memory of their sister Helen R***r, who many of you will remember from Nature Club.

Not long until the first Green Beans Market in the beautifully renovated heritage station. We will be raising the vibrations with music from DJ Andrea 'sista soul' Robertson, food from Namaste - Taste of India Hot sauces Artisan Bread cakes galore from The Cake Cavern Drinks available from 12.00 Plus a whole host of wonderful stalls with makers, growers, artists, crafter's, knitters, jeweller's and community art projects. .whitley.bay
