Bernie (Volunteer Development Manager) is spending the morning at Weston - super - Mare Library North Somerset Libraries speaking to potential volunteers about opportunities in North Somerset.

It is wonderful to see our Improving Ageing in North Somerset Manager, Mark explaining our role within the newly formed North Somerset Community Support. We are proud to be working alongside our colleagues at Citizens Advice North Somerset and West of England Rural Network.

The Improving Ageing in North Somerset project offers support for community groups, volunteers and local initiatives that promote local resilience, for example memory cafés, lunch clubs, carers groups, community events.

Our Improving Ageing in North Somerset had BBC News Points West filming with them last week during their Ageing Without Children group here in Weston - super - Mare.

We're delighted that our work will be featured on BBC Points West on Monday 5th October.

Tune in to hear more about the project and the difference it's making in North Somerset. We'd love your support by watching and sharing!

This growing community for older people ageing without children meet to share their experiences with those in a similar situation as well as host events and talks at their groups in Weston - super - Mare and Portishead.

A new community support service has launched in North Somerset!

North Somerset Community Support brings together Citizens Advice North Somerset, Voluntary Action North Somerset and West of England Rural Network (WERN) to help residents aged 50+ access advice, support and local community activities.

Commissioned by North Somerset Council North Somerset Community Support will offer a range of services including benefits and housing advice, Village Agent support and help for community groups, aiming to help older people stay independent, connected and well.

Our role will be offering support to community groups, volunteers and local initiatives that promote local resilience.
