First launch of the year.

On a very cold Sunday morning the inshore lifeboat Claire and David Delves was launched at the request of HM Coastguard to a report of a person cut off by the tide in the area of Dumpton Gap and wading waist deep in water.

The inshore lifeboat launched at 09.59 and carried out a search along the coastline up as far as Viking Bay however the person was not found.

After reports were received that the person had been found safe the inshore lifeboat was stood down and returned to station by 10.40.

Coxswain Ian Cannon said, ‘ We publish the tide times every morning on our page so please check before setting off to the coast. It is very easy to be caught out by an incoming tide so ensure you always carry a means of communication with you.’
