What is Cuppa for the Crew?
Cuppa for the Crew is a simple, enjoyable way to bring people together while raising vital funds for the RNLI. Just pop the kettle on, grab some sweet treats (or make your own!), and gather your favourite people for a fundraising event they’re sure to enjoy.

By hosting your own coffee morning, afternoon tea, or bake sale, you'll help RNLI crews continue their lifesaving work.

You could hold it at your local community venue, workplace, or even in your own home. Just pick a date that suits you, use your event pack to make your space look great, and let the good times roll!

A date for your diaries Sunday 8th November for an event arranged by local resident and organiser Colin Lawton, who sent us these words.

“I have been a resident of Ramsgate these past 22 years and have raised 4 children here.

I have witnessed on many occasions the Ramsgate Lifeboat putting to sea on yet another selfless mission.
I have wanted to do something for quite some time to raise not just much needed funds, but also more awareness for those who risk their own lives to save others.
So, that. said, with the help of family and friends, I have decided to put on this event and hopefully, raise money for Ramsgate RNLI.

We are extremely grateful for the support of local artists Mike Samson and Samantha Comley, who have donated their artwork for our poster for the event, as well as local musicians and DJ's who have come onboard to make this a special occasion.

So, please give your support and get your tickets from the Ramsgate Music Hall website. See you there!!!”

On Wednesday 24 June Ramsgate RNLI volunteer crew launched the inshore lifeboat Claire and David Delves at the request of HM Coastguard.
Reports from a member of the public had been received that two young children were in the water on the outer side of the east pier. The lifeboat launched at 15.37 and searched the area along with Margate Coastguard and the Coastguard Helicopter.

As the crew approached the scene reports were received that the two children had made their way safely ashore with the assistance of three young adults but the crew were asked to stay on scene to make sure there was no one else in the water. All l assets were stood down at 15.52.
On the way back to the station the lifeboat retrieved an inflatable rubber ring, this is the second one that has been removed in two days.

Coxswain Ian Cannon said, “ With this spell of hot weather people understandably want to go to the beach to cool off. We would strongly advise against using inflatables in the sea as they are designed for swimming pools and even a light breeze can sweep them out to sea. If you do use them then always supervise their use and keep them close to shore.

If you do find your self in trouble then remember Float to Live, tilt your head backwards with ears submerged, relax and breathe normally. Move your hands and feet to help you stay afloat and don’t worry if your legs sink, as everyone floats differently. “
