🌺On Saturday, TS Jamaica Band were invited to attend Westwood Cross Opening of the Poppy Appeal. It was great to see so many from other cadet forces and organisations dotted around the shopping centre in support of this great cause.
Our band displayed their musical talents to shoppers and VIPs, who stood and watched.
TS Jamaica will be supporting local events across Thanet over the next couple of weeks to commemorate and showing their respects to those who have given their lives so we can have our tomorrow.

We are proud to finally announce that one of the Lord Lieutenant’s cadets is one of our fantastic Leading Cadets.
LC Shawn has proven to be an outstanding cadet and one our younger cadets look up to. Our District Officer Lt Cdmr Robbins and OIC Sub Lt Green supported LC at Ashford School last night where he was appointed Lord Lieutenant of Kent’s Cadet for 26/27.

We look forward to seeing LC shine and take away great memories of this prestigious appointment!

It’s not just the Sea Cadets or RMC’s that get to do expeditions and fieldcraft. Our junior section have fun taking part in erecting different tents and map reading skills as part of their green badge award. During the summer the Marine cadets demonstrated how to put up a bivvi and mapping out coordinates on maps of the local area.

📣 ATTENTION LOCAL BUSINESSES! 📣

🏆 Can you help support Margate Sea Cadets?

Margate Sea Cadets are looking for local businesses to sponsor trophies for our Annual Awards Night this November.

The cost of our trophies is approximately £200, and we would be incredibly grateful for any business willing to contribute towards some or all of this cost.

Our cadets have worked exceptionally hard throughout the year, proudly representing Margate at events and competitions across the country, while also supporting numerous community events throughout Thanet.

We want to recognise their dedication, achievements and commitment by giving them the awards night they truly deserve. ❤️

🤝 Could your business help us make this happen?

Every contribution, no matter how big or small, would make a real difference to our volunteer-run unit and the young people we support.

If you or your business would like to help, please contact:

📞 Zoe Green – 07437 011625

⚓️ WOW! What an amazing few days we've had! ⚓️

Cadets and volunteers from across the country came together to commemorate the Battle of Trafalgar and celebrate Admiral Lord Nelson's historic victory.

The cadets travelled to Longmoor Training Camp on Thursday, where they spent two intensive days perfecting their drill, musical abilities and physical training, all in preparation to showcase their hard work and dedication at Trafalgar Square on Sunday.

Two cadets from TS Jamaica, were selected to take part in these prestigious displays, and they have done themselves, their unit, District, Area and Company incredibly proud!

To be selected for such a prestigious national parade is a fantastic achievement and a testament to their commitment, determination and hard work. We hope they take away some incredible memories and feel immensely proud of everything they have accomplished.

A huge Thank you to all the staff involved in organising this incredible event, as well as everyone working behind the scenes to ensure the welfare, safety and needs of every cadet were met throughout the weekend.

Your dedication and hard work helped make this experience possible for so many young people, and it is truly appreciated.

Well done to all the cadets and volunteers involved. What an unforgettable experience!

Sunday afternoon, saw cadets and CFAVs from around the District gather outside the RMA in Deal to parade in Remembrance of the Battle of Trafalgar. The parade proudly led by East Kent Band marched along The Strand towards St Georges Church, where a service of remembrance took place.

A lovely service was held in the grounds of the church led by Rev Sean Sheffield at the tomb of Cpt. Edward Parker RN, Deputy Lieutenant Mr James Ryeland laid a wreath of fresh flowers on the tomb before the parade arrived.

For more information and pictures of the parade, head over to Dover and Deal Sea & Royal Marines Cadets and the Sea Cadets East Kent pages.

Well done to all the cadets that took part and the organisers of the parade.

A special mention to TS Jamaica Jr Cadets that supported the East Kent band, yet have never played alongside them. We look forward to seeing them flourish into great musicians.

Finally a splendid well done to LC Evan who supported parade staff as a Parade Marshall, using his Drill Instructors skills to help the parade keep in step, even taking the time to speak with parents and other cadets about drill.

Best of luck to AC Gemini as she embarks on a voyage with TS Royalist. We hope you have a great time and look forward to hearing all about it when you return.

Cadets not only gain a variety of valuable life skills when going off-shore they have fun whilst socialising and making new friends.

Thursday evening we celebrated birthdays during evening colours, with one of our cadets aging out much to the disappointment of the younger ones! However, we are looking forward to welcoming CFC Kieron back as a member of RMC Staff, once he has taken a short break. Kieron has always aimed to rejoin the staff when he ages out and has spent some time within the RMCD to gain further knowledge of the Detachment. His enthusiasm, determination and nurturing character will be beneficial to all cadets and staff at the unit. Happiest of birthdays CFC!

We also congratulated another member of staff on their Good Service Stripe! A huge well done to PO C Goddard-Masters. PO is not only a Jr Instructor, she is also a Seamanship Instructor using her knowledge to see cadets through SM CTP and assists on DMACTs. Well done PO!

Last night TS Jamaica bid farewell to AC Archie and wished him all the best for the future. Potts has only been at TS Jamaica for a short while but had built great friendships with our cadets when they met at District camps and events, friendships that will last a lifetime.
Archie has took all that the Sea Cadets can offer with experiencing off-shore adventures to reaching Gold Duke of Edinburgh, parading at National level and representing his units by leading parades with his skills on the base drum, plus gaining recognised qualifications.
Potts has been part of Sea Cadets East Kent for five years and now uses his skills and attributes as he undergoes the first part of basic training to join the Royal Navy.
Best of luck for the future
