At TS Jamaica 🇯🇲 cadets and staff push to achieve their full potential, pushing themselves out of their comfort zones in order to get the most out of what Sea Cadets can offer! Many hours of training, practice and giving up valuable personal time, shows at our unit when you see the dedication and teamwork from all that attend!
BZ to all who have participated in competitions, summer camps and showing regular attendance throughout the summer.
As schools return we look forwarded to seeing a full ship with routines getting back on track.
Remember if you need somewhere to study for upcoming exams, the unit IT suite can be used during cadets nights.

On Monday, our Chairman, Mr Paul Holton was accompanied by Sgt Green, and both the Mayor of Margate cadet and Lord Warden of The Confederation of Cinque Ports cadet, visited Academy FM Studios, thank you to Chris West (Broadcaster) for having us. It was very appreciated to have the opportunity to tell Chris and the wider community what the Sea Cadets locally and Nationally do, giving an insight to how we run our unit, and was especially great to have two cadets to help promote the unit.

Margate Sea & Royal Marine Cadets, has been a unit in Margate for over 106 years, of which 64 years in Hartsdown Park, taking juniors from 9yr olds, Sea Cadets from 12yrs and Royal Marines from 13yrs. Margate Unit is part of Sea Cadets East Kent and Southern Area Sea Cadets. We are an incredibly busy unit, supporting our Local Mayor of Margate, Charter Trustees and local community as well as Royal British Legion, Margate Branch and Ramsgate Royal Naval Association.

Throughout the year, we have continued to support the community, whilst giving our cadets every opportunity to thrive and succeed, winning various competitions; including Drill, Band and First Aid. Representing our unit at both District and Area level, in turn giving the cadets the opportunity to preform at National level as part of the East Kent District Band. We were also honoured to be invited to partake in the National Marching Band Week in London, where 26 bands from around the world took it in turn to perform from Horse Guards and down The Mall. On other occasions our cadets have had the opportunity to participate in parades in London; such as National Trafalgar Day and Graspan Parade.

Margate Unit prides itself on having fun, giving everyone opportunities, and creating a family environment, whereby our cadets can make lifelong friends, whilst gaining recognised qualifications and having experiences and thriving to progress to their full potential.

Being a busy unit, we rely heavily on our amazing team of uniformed/civilian staff, charity trustees, parents and local support from Lord-Lieutenant, members of Parliament, Councillors, local businesses and the public, here at TS Jamaica we are like a big family, working hard to achieve. We are greatly appreciative of all the continued hard work and support of everyone involved.

On Friday, 14 of our incredibly talented cadets travelled to London to spend the evening with fellow cadets from across the country, before heading to the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich to compete in the Sea Cadets National Band Competition Sea Cadets National Competition & Events.

Our cadets joined forces with talented cadets from across East Kent to form the East Kent Mass Band, and what a performance they gave.

With the sun shining and spirits highs, the cadets stepped onto the parade square and performed tremendously, capturing the attention of spectators and museum visitors. For many of the cadets, this was their first opportunity to perform at National Level, but they certainly didn't look or sound out of place!

We are incredibly proud to announce that Sea Cadets East Kent Mass Band achieved 3rd place overall, as well as:
Joint 1st - Bugle section
Joint 3rd - Corps of drums

A huge congratulations also goes to AC Masood, who competed in the Solo Drum Competition, achieving an impressive 5th place!

These achievements are a fantastic reflection of the hard work, dedication and commitment shown by our cadets and staff.

A massive thank you goes to PO Taylor and PSgt Skabarde for their continued commitment and dedication to our cadets. These achievements don't just happen, they are the result of countless hours of practice, preparation and support.

We would also like to thank PO Smith DSO Band, for bringing the units together, hosting practices and taking on the role of TEAM EK Manager.

Finally, thank you to all the staff who helped make this possible; from supporting cadets travelling to and from practices, to getting everyone safely to the event, and to all the volunteers and organisers who helped ensure the day ran smoothly.

Congratulations to every member of East Kent Band, you should all be incredibly proud!!

On Thursday evening, we held our monthly Divisions, an important occasion where we recognise and celebrate the achievements of our cadets, CFAVs and volunteers for their commitment, dedication and hard work.

Congratulations to MC Reed, MC O'Toole and Cdt Hills, who were each presented with their First Years Good Conduct Stripe. These badges recognise the commitment, attendance and exemplary behaviour they have demonstrated throughout their first year as cadets.

Continuing our recognition of dedication and good conduct, congratulations also go to AC Green, AC Masood, OC King, OC Gosden and LCpl Green, who were awarded their Three Year Good Conduct Badges in recognition of their continued commitment and excellent conduct.

Our Volunteers are the backbone of our unit, giving up countless hours of support and develop our young people. A huge congratulations and thank you to PO Ansell, PO Bailey and PO Galloway on receiving their Three Year Service Badges. Your dedication is greatly appreciated by everyone at the unit.

A special thank you to our District Officer, Lt Cdr Robbins, for presenting the awards during the evening.

To encourage cadets to help our unit grow, we run a referral incentive where cadets receive an Amazon Voucher if they introduce a friend who remains with us for three months. Congratulations to OC Gosden and MC O'Toole, who were presented with their vouchers by our unit Chairman, Mr Paul Holton.

It was wonderful to see so many parents attending the evening. they joined us for refreshments during stand easy and had the opportunity to speak with members of staff while cadets continued their CTP. This lesson focused on Healthy Habits and Personal care, each cadet received a self-care package containing a flannel, nail file and brush, toothbrush and toothpaste to reinforce the importance of looking after themselves.

Well done to everyone recognised during the evening, and thank you to all our cadets, volunteers and families for making the unit such a positive and supportive place to be.

Yesterday our cadets attended the Mayor of Margate Civic Parade and Service at St Johns Margate, during the event the Royal British Legion, Margate Branch Standard was blessed. Our band proudly led the parade from Mill Lane to the Church. Well done to the Standard bearers OC Lloyd and LC Hards-Morris and also AC Green and LCpl Green for confidently reading as part of the service.

On Friday evening, our senior open boys rowing team travelled to Poole to represent Sea Cadets East Kent in the Southern Area Sea Cadets Regatta.
Unfortunately, the tide didn’t roll our way but we are extremely proud of the team and their efforts over the weekend! Well done to OC Gosden, AC Masood, AC Green, AC Lloyd and AC Turner, who showed great teamwork and sportsmanship.
Thank you to Borough of Poole Sea Cadets Unit who kindly offered their unit for the night meaning the cadets did not have an early morning start on Saturday ahead of the Regatta.
And to our unit staff who travelled with them, without their support or commitment, the cadets would not get these experiences.
