Tonight at TS Jamaica, cadets, staff, and parents came together to show their appreciation for our fantastic Bandmaster, PO Taylor.

For over three years, PO Taylor has worked tirelessly to develop and grow our band, supported along the way by a little help from his friends. Thanks to his dedication, commitment, and enthusiasm, the unit band has progressed tremendously and achieved the success it enjoys today.

We have witnessed not only the band’s musical development but also the growth in our cadets’ confidence, teamwork, and personal progression. Without PO Taylor’s unwavering support and leadership, these achievements would not have been possible.

PO Taylor was both grateful and humbled by the gifts presented to him and sincerely thanked everyone for their generosity and support.

We look forward to seeing the band continue to grow, with our junior cadets already showing great interest and demonstrating impressive musical talent.

Bravo Zulu, PO Taylor.

Tonight at TS Jamaica we wished MC DeLima a very happy 18th birthday 🎁 🎊and wished him all the best for his future. MC DeLima has been an absolute delightful cadet and one many of the ships company look up to.
MC DeLima represented our unit on many occasions, whether it being at DMACT’s, camps or stepping in to carry the standard on civic and ceremonial events, always putting his best foot forward and with a huge smile on his face. In his 3 years attending the unit DeLima has made many forever friends and memories he will take with him as he ventures into adult life.

Yesterday, our cadets and staff joined Sea Cadets East Kent to celebrate Dover and Deal Sea & Royal Marines Cadets 100th Anniversary. Our band cadets joined forces with other units from the District to form the East Kent Mass Band, which led the parade. We were invited to attend a church service before heading to the town hall, where Dover Unit had arranged a fantastic presentation of their history, to now and an inspection carried out by Captain Sea Cadets Captain H MacKenzie VR RN, followed by some very tasty refreshments. It was great to see the cadets from across the district socialising with each other and staff.
We then listened to some of Dover's cadets past and present, to just how the Sea Cadet Corp has influenced their lives and given them memories they hold dearly.
Dover Cadets and staff treated us to a great musical performance, worthy of a standing ovation.
Lastly we witnessed Dover create a time capsule, filled with memorabilia that will be hidden to be reopened in 50yrs.
Well done Dover and Deal Sea & Royal Marines Cadets and thank you all for a wonderful day and inviting us to celebrate your special milestone.

Well done to all the cadets and staff in attendance, it was a proud moment to be part of.

As a Unit we all appreciate our volunteers, and acknowledge we are incredibly fortunate to have many adult volunteers, with a breadth of knowledge, and life experiences, as well as the training we get via Marine Society Sea Cadets.

Firstly in his role as Unit President, Lt Cdr. (SCC) K Martin RNR (Rtd), is still a valued member of the Unit, with both extensive knowledge and experience, as well as helping promote our Unit within the Community, Kevin is also Vice-Chair of the Royal British Legion Margate Branch, and works closely with the Town Mayors Office, and Civic Parades. As a former Cadet and Adult Volunteer of our Unit, he started over 45 years ago as a Cadet, and ended up being former Commanding Officer of our Unit, as well as former District Officer.

Secondly the first of our Unit Vice-Presidents, we are lucky to have former Unit Chairman, Michael, to whom over the years has dedicated so much to the Unit, Michael also helps with our Unit funds, by annually donating monies, his passion to help our Cadets and Unit thrive is something we appreciate so much.

For our next Volunteer a long standing Veteran of our Unit and proud Vice-President, we are privileged and honoured to have Mac (Malcolm) as part of our Ships Company, Mac, is one of (if not the) last surviving crew members who served on HMS Jamaica, our Ships namesake, this direct link, is something very special, Mac is very much appreciated and liked by the entire TS Jamaica company, his many stories of life at sea, and some of the original artifacts from his time on board, are part of the fabric of our Unit. His long time unwavering support and dedication to his role is what makes him so special to us all.

Finally as a Unit we have The Office of Mayor, so who ever currently holds the Margate Town Mayors Role, is automatically asked to accept Vice-President Role of our Unit, we as a Unit are proud of our heritage of over 106 years serving the Town of Margate over 64 years in our Current location, our Unit is embedded and fully supports the Mayor, Charter Trustees, and Local Community, so having the Mayor directly involved, is a huge mutual partnership.

As Volunteers' Week comes to an end this weekend, we still have a few more volunteers to thank, as part of the Governance of our Unit, and the rules and regulations of the Charities Commission, and the spiritual part of the Marine Society Sea Cadets.

Unit Management Team Committee Trustees, including our Secretary Jo, who keeps up-to-date and accurate meeting minutes throughout the year, as well as our Annual General Meeting. Jo also helps the Chairman, UMT & OIC keep an eye on actions from previous meetings.

Secondly, we have Trevor, a long-standing member of the UMT Committee, as a former Treasurer, whose hard work and dedication over the years in both helping with maintenance of our Unit HQ.

Thirdly, we have another long-standing member, to whom bring two hats to the table (so to speak) Lt Cdr. (CCF) A Pinn RNR is a UMT Member with our Unit, but also runs a Combined Cadet Force School including Army, Navy and Air Force cadets, so his experience is truly valued.

Finally, we have our Uniformed & Civilian role of Unit Padre, Father Denis, who helps our cadets and CFAVs alike with spiritual guidance and emotional and pastoral support if needed, as well as always being on hand to help enrol new members.

As we near the end of Volunteer Week, we would like to recognise and thank several individuals whose dedication and commitment make a real difference to our unit.

Firstly, we would like to acknowledge PO Galloway for his dedication and support to the unit.

We would also like to recognise Sgt Skabarde, who recently aged out as a cadet and has since joined us as a valued member of staff. Her continued support of the RMCD, alongside her talents as a skilled band instructor, has made a significant contribution to the development of our cadets.

Finally, Volunteer Week is not only about recognising instructors. We would also like to thank our dedicated Unit Management Team members. Chairman Mr Holton is a hands-on and supportive Chair whose commitment to the unit, staff, and cadets is unwavering. His leadership and encouragement are invaluable.

We would also like to recognise our Vice Chair, Kate, who works tirelessly behind the scenes to secure funding and grants that provide much-needed support for the unit. Her efforts often go unseen, but they play a vital role in ensuring we can continue to offer opportunities to our cadets.

Thank you all for your hard work, dedication, and continued support. Your contributions are greatly appreciated and help make our unit the success it is today.

Continuing with our volunteers, we would like to thank PO Goddard-Masters for the help and support they provide to our Junior Section, and PO Dephlesis for their ongoing commitment to training and teaching our Sea Cadets.

However, not all of our staff wear uniform, yet they play a vital role within the unit. Our thanks go to Admin Officer Tracy, who is a core member of the team. Alongside supporting both cadets and staff at TS Jamaica, she is also renowned for providing cakes and treats for everyone’s birthdays and special events.

Finally, we would like to thank Felicity, our Stores Officer. Known to many as Fliss, she works tirelessly to ensure cadets are issued with the correct uniform, manages our stand easy, and organises fundraising events throughout the year.

We are incredibly grateful for the dedication, hard work, and enthusiasm shown by all of our volunteers. Their support helps make TS Jamaica a positive, welcoming, and successful unit for every cadet.

Next, we would like to thank our Bandmaster, PO Taylor, for his dedication and commitment to our Unit Band, without whom the band would not be as successful as it is today.

We would also like to recognise our 2IC, Sgt Green, who helps run our RMCD and ensures that the RMC syllabus is followed and delivered effectively.

Our thanks also go to Boats Officer, PO Bailey, who ensures that all boating and water safety equipment is maintained and serviceable, and that swim tests are kept up to date.

Finally, we thank JTO, PO Goddard, who leads our Junior Section, ensuring that junior cadet training is delivered while, most importantly, making sure everyone has fun along the way.
