Dementia-Friendly Church Launches Margate Church on 10th June

A new Dementia-Friendly Church gathering will begin on Wednesday 10th June, providing a warm, welcoming, and supportive space for people living with dementia, their families, friends, and carers.

The group will meet on the second Wednesday of each month, offering opportunities for friendship, conversation, worship, and community connection in a relaxed and understanding environment. The aim is to create a place where everyone feels valued, included, and supported.

Dementia-Friendly Church recognises the unique challenges faced by those living with dementia and their loved ones. Through accessible worship, fellowship, and shared activities, the gathering seeks to build meaningful relationships and reduce social isolation. (Facebook)

Everyone is welcome, whether you are living with dementia, caring for someone who is, or simply wish to support a more inclusive community.

First Meeting: Wednesday 10 June
Frequency: Every second Wednesday of the month
Venue: Margate Church

Yesterday, members of Thanet Dementia Action Alliance attended the Kent Dementia Action Alliance Conference and Awards in Medway. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with organisations, professionals and community groups from across Kent who are all working together to make our communities more dementia friendly. 💙

We enjoyed sharing ideas, learning about innovative projects, and celebrating the incredible work being done to support people living with dementia and their families. Events like these remind us how important partnership working and community support are in helping people live well with dementia.

A big thank you to the organisers for hosting such an inspiring event.

Dementia Awareness Week / Dementia Action Week takes place from 18–24 May 2026, raising awareness of Dementia, encouraging early diagnosis, and supporting people living with dementia and their carers. The campaign is led by Alzheimer’s Society. The Thanet Dementia Action Alliance continues its work supporting people affected by dementia through awareness activities, community partnerships and sensory support events.
