We have supported 'Looking Ahead ' several times over the years and following a recent donation of £500 we were invited to visit their new premises at Westwood when our President Rob Yates made the 'official' presentation.
'Looking Ahead' supports adults with different needs, helping them develop skills through craft, woodwork, cookery and budgeting and raised bed gardening amongst others.
There's a tuck shop which the students take turns to look after and handmade cards and craft items are on sale made by the students.
The new premises has a great art facility and through art the organisation also supports an additional group of young people who have been excluded from school.
'Looking Ahead' are also based at The Tea Room St Phillips Church, Palm Bay (excellent scones) which students assist in running.
A summer Fayre will be held there on 18th July.
Various art classes are available with art teacher Brian. Our club has twice booked a workshop afternoon and is hoping to arrange another workshop in the near future.
A really enjoyable and insightful visit . Thank you, Brian, Linda, staff and of course the students 😊

The local level Rotary Young Environmentalist Competition was won by Holly Brooksby who impressed the judging panel with her vision of a Robot - named 'Ruby Rubbish' that could patrol the streets collecting litter.
The theme for this year was 'Happiness in Nature ' and our club were pleased to collaborate with Monkton Nature Reserve and other local businesses to
Establish the competition in this area for the first time and will now be a yearly fixture.
Rufius Hatfield entered his 'Animal Life Pond' and Frankie her 'Happy Habitat for Bees' .
All 3 have received certificates, family membership for Monkton and amazing bird boxes donated by local Environmentalist and film maker Nick Mitchell AKA 'Get Wild '.
Chair of Trustees at Monkton and Rotarian Vivienne Rose welcomed Sir Roger Gale and the families to a ceremony on Saturday to present the awards to Holly and Rufius (which unfortunately Frankie couldn't attend.) Followed by refreshments at the reserves lovely cafe
