Have you recently been diagnosed with MS? You don’t have to navigate it alone.

Being diagnosed with MS can bring a lot of questions, uncertainty and emotions. Sometimes, it can help to talk to someone who has been there and understands what it’s like.

Following the positive feedback from her first course in March, one of our lovely members, Sue Kirtley, is running another course for people who are newly or recently diagnosed with MS, or who are still finding their way through the diagnosis. It is a chance to learn, share experiences, ask questions and connect with others who understand.

Sue has lived with MS for nearly 26 years and has been fortunate to remain well. Over the years, she has picked up plenty of knowledge, experience and practical coping strategies that she is keen to share, alongside insights from others living with MS.

If there is sufficient interest, we are planning to run the event over six Saturdays starting from Saturday 3 October.

When Karen Quigley suffered a stroke at just 42, her life changed overnight. Unable to speak, swallow or eat, she spent three months in hospital and faced the challenge of relearning how to walk, communicate and regain her independence.

After discovering the Chilterns Neuro Centre, Karen found more than rehabilitation. Through physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, art, singing and Boccia, she has rebuilt skills, confidence and friendships.

Today, Karen has even passed her driving test – opening up a new sense of freedom and possibility.

As Karen puts it: “Amazing… everybody’s really friendly… and you’re not on your own.”

Karen’s story is a powerful reminder that recovery is not just physical, it’s emotional and social too. The Chilterns Neuro Centre provides more than rehabilitation services, it offers a community, a support network and a place where people can rebuild their lives at their own pace.
