Today, we’re celebrating World Occupational Therapy Day, and this year’s theme is ‘Participation Matters’, highlighting the important role occupational therapy plays in helping people engage in the activities, roles and routines that give their lives meaning.

It is not just about employment. An ‘occupation’ can be anything a person needs, wants or is expected to do, from washing and dressing to cooking, gardening, socialising or pursuing a hobby.

World Occupational Therapy Day gives us an opportunity to recognise the value of this work and celebrate the difference occupational therapy can make to everyday life.

Because participation matters. The ability to do the things we enjoy, fulfil our roles and stay connected to the people and activities we love is an important part of living well.

Aims2Cure, an amazing organsiation that has given us over £165,000 in grants since 2008, is hosting a Charity Gift Fayre on Monday 9 November, 10am-6pm, at the Radlett Centre (WD7 8HL).

By going along, you will be supporting the Centre as well as enjoying a fantastic pre-Christmas shopping experience with jewellery, women and children’s fashion, home interiors and other perfect gifts.

Aims2Cure is a charity run by families affected by MS and all of the donations they make to us come from their own fundraising activities.

Is your wheelchair or walker in need of a little TLC?

Our friends at Better Mobility Limited will be visiting the Centre on Tuesday 10 November, 9.30am - 12pm, to help keep your mobility equipment in good working order.

They’ll be offering our members basic checks, helpful advice and simple maintenance for wheelchairs and walkers.

If any more extensive work is needed, a separate appointment for a full service will need to be arranged.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, organised and friendly volunteer to support our fundraising team for 6-15 hours a week.

A huge thank you to the wonderful Kenny Martin and his fantastic team of helpers who joined us at the Centre today for another delicious edition of Kenny’s Kitchen, treating everyone to a wonderful selection of tasty small plates.

We’re so grateful for the time, effort and care they put into making these events so enjoyable. Thank you, Kenny and team, for bringing everyone together over great food and good company.

Good luck to our amazing zipwire team who, today and over the weekend, will be taking on the ultimate thrill ride at Allianz Stadium in Twickenham to raise vital funds for our charity!

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone taking part, facing their fears and stepping out of their comfort zone to support people affected by MS, Parkinson’s and strokes.

Your courage, enthusiasm and generosity will help us continue providing life-changing therapy and support to those who need it most.
