Great to see so many of you at our annual Barn Dance on Saturday! Thank you so much for coming along, and joining in so wholeheartedly with the dancing, the raffle and playing games. We raised a fantastic £1282 which will make such a difference to these amazing people with all their struggles for water, food, health care and education. Huge thanks to the Band Myckryck, The Chandos Arms and all our helpers on the day and with the raffle.
It was lovely being able to share more of the lives of the people we support in Tanzania with you all and have such a fun evening together.
On International Women's day it was wonderful to share the news from Maasoi that FGM is no longer practiced in the area. Maasoi is one of our friends and a Traditional Birth Attendant (TBA) who attended our TBA and FGM trainings, by Maasai people for Maasai people. She was afraid to start broaching the subject of FGM, fearing anger at challenging such a deeply held tradition. In the event she and her team found people very receptive to the information about the harmful effects, and they decided to stop this practice, whilst keeping the beautiful ceremony of the right of passage from girlhood to womanhood.
