Happy Volunteers' Week Wakefield💛 Sound on for a lovely video!

Here is what Dean our Recovery Community Development Manager had to say...
"The peer mentors in Wakefield provide so much support to so many individuals and seeing the changes they make in peoples lives day in day out is more rewarding than anything I have achieved in life."

Thank you to all our Volunteers and Peer Mentors for everything you do for the Turning Point team and those we support.

Next week, WX Wakefield will host the UK AIDS Memorial Quilt exhibition, as Wakefield becomes the first city outside London to welcome this powerful and important installation—and we’re proud to be part of it.
From 4–7 June, all 42 quilt blocks will be on display at WX Wakefield, alongside selected individual panels exhibited at locations across the city.
The UK AIDS Memorial Quilt represents more than 500 people lost to HIV and AIDS and is part of the world’s largest community art project, originally founded in the USA in 1985 by activist Cleve Jones. Created as both a memorial and a form of protest, the Quilt continues to raise awareness of HIV and its ongoing impact on individuals and communities today.

Some of the Turning Point Inspiring Recovery team will be at WX during lunchtime on 4th and 5th June, available to answer any questions about our service.

We’re really looking forward to visiting the exhibition and meeting lots of new people.

European Testing Week might be over, but we’re here for you all year round 💙

We offer free testing for people using our service - and it’s a quick, simple finger-prick test!

Why getting tested matters:
1️⃣ Knowing your status helps you take charge of your health and well-being.
2️⃣ If something is detected, early treatment means better outcomes.
3️⃣ Testing helps reduce the spread and protects our community.

Celebrating European Testing Week @ Turning Point, Hemsworth Hub!

This week, we’ve gone all out with a full display – balloons, information stands, and a welcoming space to get people talking about their health and wellbeing.
Throughout the week, we’ll be offering BBV (Blood Borne Virus) testing, to our service uses giving everyone the opportunity to know their status in a safe, supportive and confidential environment.

European Testing Week is a great chance to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and encourage people to take positive steps for their health. Whether you’re coming in for a chat, picking up information, or getting tested – we’re here to support you.
