💜 Introducing Recovery Talks! 💜

Starting Wednesday 2 September, we'll be outside Socialicious every Wednesday during Recovery Month.

Come and meet people with lived experience, share conversations, ask questions, and learn more about recovery.

Keep an eye out for our purple Recovery Clog mascot, complete with a microphone that's collecting stories, wisdom, and reflections from our community throughout the month.

Our Recovery Clog was inspired by a powerful quote from one of our Peer Mentors: "Walk a mile in our shoes." Its colour symbolises recovery, and during September the clog will be joining us on our travels as we celebrate recovery, raise awareness, and highlight the journeys people take towards positive change.

A reminder that our Rounders for Remembrance event is taking place this Thursday, 27 August, at Thornes Park.

This is a chance to come together, enjoy friendly competition, and take a moment to honour and remember those we have sadly lost.

There will also be an opportunity to leave a message for your loved ones on our Memory Board, which will then be displayed at Socialicious for the week.

International Overdose Awareness Day 31st August 2026.
25 years on, the message remains as important as ever.

Every life lost to overdose is someone loved, missed, and remembered.

This IOAD, we're marking the day across Wakefield Inspiring Recovery and Inspiring Futures by:

💜 Hosting a remembrance rounders event at Thornes Park

💜 Remembrance displays across our services where staff and service users can leave messages to loved ones they have lost

💜Staff will wear Purple on Tuesday 25th August to show support for those affected by overdose and remember those we have lost

💜 Asking businesses to turn Wakefield purple by lighting up buildings, decorating workplaces, or changing logo colours

On this day, we remember. We reflect. We stand together against stigma.
