ce for knowledge and direction for employers, care providers, and anyone else interested in transgender issues. Our knowledge of the various treatments offered by the NHS and other available choices is up to date. Whether full- or part-time, we can offer assistance with finding clothes, applying makeup, and adjusting to a new gender role. Anyone who is dealing with gender issues can meet in confidence with one of our skilled support staff members. This could apply to the transgendered person themselves, a relative, a physician, a health professional, or an employer. Meetings are held every Thursday, 6:30 - 9:30, at a safe locations, in Wakefield,

Our Story

TransWakefield is a place for the transgender community of Wakefield, West Yorkshire and surrounding areas to come together to chat, make friends, share experiences, share advice and share events. TransWakefield aims to provide practical support to all trans people, their families and friends. It is a source of information and guidance for health professionals, care workers, employers and anyone interested in transgender issues. We have up-to-date information on the treatment offered by the NHS and the various other options available. We can provide practical help with clothes and make-up and learning to live in a new gender role, whether full or part time. We have access to experienced support workers who can meet in confidence with anyone who is confronted with gender issues. This could be the transgender person themselves, a family member, a G.P, health worker or employer. Meetings are held at a secure location, in Wakefield, anyone wishing to attend must contact us first to introduce themselves. In the interest of privacy we may wish to talk to prospective members on the telephone before inviting them to join us.
