Can you help?

We're looking for donations for our charity raffle, which will take place during the Carols at The Coro event in December.

If you're having a sort out and have any unwanted gifts - bottles, gift sets etc - we'd very much appreciate them.

All monies raised will go the Mayor's chosen charities.

Donations can be dropped off at the council office, or we'd be happy to arrange collection from you - just get in touch!

Sharing on behalf of Westmorland and Furness Council

An emergency road closure and prohibition of parking restriction has been put in place by Westmorland and Furness Highways because of the likelihood of danger to the public, due to the dangerous condition of the building. Emergency Notices were issued on the 30 September 2026 and 21 October 2026.

As the liklihood of danger still persists an 18 moth temporary traffic regulation order has been put in place coming into operation on the 10th November 2026.

Location of prohibition of parking restriction: Brogden Street, Ulverston (west side) from its junction with the U5714, extending in a southerly direction for approx. 15 metres.

Location of road closure: U5714, Ulverston, from its junction with New Market Street, extending in a easterly direction to its junction with Brogden Street.

There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
N.B Passage for Emergency Vehicles will be maintained where required for the duration of this restriction.

The Sir John Barrow Monument will be lit green this evening (and on the first Monday of every month) in support of those affected by the various conflicts happening in the world at the moment.

The colour green is often associated with peace and hope, it is a colour of nature, symbolising growth, renewal and the idea of a better future.

ULVERSTON REMEMBRANCE SERVICES 2026

Sunday 8th November
Members of the public are cordially invited to join the Remembrance Sunday event on Sunday 8th November.
The Remembrance Service at Ulverston Parish Church will start at 2.30pm.
After the Church Service at approximately 3.30pm, the parade will form up outside Ulverston Parish Church to parade along Church Walk and King Street to the War Memorial for the laying of wreaths at approximately 3.40pm.
The parade will be led by the Parade Marshal and Ulverston Town Band.
All very welcome to attend both the service and parade.
Ulverston Town Council is responsible for the parade and a full road closure will be in place.
After the laying of wreaths, the Town Band and the uniform section of the parade will then make their way back to the Royal British Legion Club in Brogden Street.

The Sir John Barrow Monument will be lit orange this evening for Halloween, and also in support of the Colour the World Orange campaign, raising awareness of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome [CRPS].

CRPS is a chronic pain condition that causes persistent, severe and debilitating pain, usually affecting a single limb.
It is usually triggered by an injury but the pain is completely out of proportion to the original trauma and continues long after the tissue has healed.

Bookings for Westmorland and Furness Council Winter HAF programme open on 19th November.

Families are being urged to check their eligibility, following changes made in September.
The changes mean that all households receiving Universal Credit can now apply, regardless of income. However, families must still apply, as eligibility is not awarded automatically.

The HAF programme offers funded holiday activities and nutritious meals for children and young people who receive Targeted (means-tested) Free School Meals.

The Sir John Barrow Monument will be lit purple, blue and yellow this evening in support of the Child Brain Injury Trust.

As the nights draw in, and the clocks change, there is an increase in road traffic collisions which could result in a brain injury.

The Child Brain Injury Trust campaign encourages 'being seen, not hurt'.
It aims to raise awareness of road safety and the importance of being visible as the nights get darker.

The Sir John Barrow Monument will be lit green this evening to raise awareness of Phelan-McDermid Syndrome.

Phelan-McDermid Syndrome is a rare genetic condition caused by a change or deletion affecting the SHANK3 gene on chromosome 22.
It can affect development, communication, learning and muscle tone, with each individual experiencing the condition differently.
