Hearts Of Oak Boat Trust Restoring the past, inspiring the future!

Built by Hand, Kept Alive by Heart 💛

Hearts of Oak a traditional Morecambe Bay Nobby ⚓️

A wooden sailing prawner launched in 1912 and lovingly maintained by volunteers keeping our coastal heritage alive.

⚓ She’s back where she belongs! ⚓

At long last, Hearts of Oak has been successfully relaunched for the 2026 season! 🎉🌊

Today was more than just a shakedown sail – it was the culmination of countless hours of hard work, dedication and passion from everyone involved in bringing this wonderful vessel back onto the water. We would like to extend a huge thank you to all those who came along to help out and share in this special day. ❤️

We were also delighted to be joined by the newly restored Arnside Sailing Club vessel Severn, making for a fantastic sight as two beautifully restored boats sailed side by side once again. ⛵⛵

Here’s to fair winds, calm waters, and many memorable adventures ahead in 2026! 🌅⚓

Thank you for being part of the journey – we can’t wait to share what’s next.

⚓️🔧 WORK PARTY IN FULL SWING 🔧⚓️

The lads are back aboard the amazing Hearts of Oak Boat Trust and it’s all hands on deck today! 💪

Big jobs underway as the team tackle repairs and fit brand new bowsprit brackets and pin 🔩🪵
Tools everywhere… engine out on display… and enough graft going on to make you tired just watching it 😅

It’s always incredible seeing the knowledge, skill and passion these volunteers bring to keeping this historic boat alive for future generations ❤️

One minute it looks like organised chaos… the next minute pure craftsmanship 👏

Massive respect to every single person giving up their time to keep her shipshape ⚓️

Up the work party! 🍻

⚓️☀️ ANOTHER BUSY DAY FOR THE HEARTS OF OAK WORK PARTY ☀️⚓️

Today the volunteers were back at it once again keeping our beautiful old girl looking her best ❤️

🪵 Bare wood being primed
🪣 Paintwork touched up
✨ Bowsprit being varnished
🧽 Hull washed down to remove algae
🔧 Plus plenty of those never ending little jobs that keep a historic boat alive

What people often don’t see is the love, time and care that goes into preserving something like the Hearts of Oak.

Every brush stroke…Every scrape…Every wash down…Is another step towards getting her back out where she belongs 🌊⚓️

Massive thank you to everyone giving up their time and grafting away in the sunshine today 👏❤️

Slowly but surely she’s coming back to life again 🙌

⚓️ Barnacles off… paint on… she’s nearly there!

Steven’s putting the hours in scraping her back to life 🎨
Les is busy getting the new tender sorted and ship-shape 🚤

All hands on deck getting her ready… because tomorrow…
she’s back where she belongs 🌊

The main channel is calling her name…

And after all that graft?
🍺 Straight to the clubhouse for a well-earned cold pint

Proper day. Proper people. Proper job.

⚓️ WORK PARTY IN FULL SWING – HEARTS OF OAK GETTING READY ⚓️

Today the fantastic work party have been hard at it getting Hearts of Oak ready for her first voyage of the year 🙌

🪵 While Steven’s been taking on the not-so-glamorous job of scraping away all those stubborn barnacles…
🔧 Alan’s been busy working on brand new cross supports for the trolley.

These supports will make a huge difference over winter—helping stabilise the trolley when she’s jacked up so the full weight of the oak isn’t sitting on the tyres 👏

It’s jobs like these that you don’t always see… but they’re absolutely vital to keeping her safe, strong, and sailing for years to come ⛵️

Massive credit to everyone involved today—proper graft, proper passion ❤️

Built by hand… kept alive by heart.

⚓🌅 THIS OR THAT 🌅⚓

Out on Morecambe Bay, there are two moments that never get old…

👇 Which would you choose? 👇

🌅 Sunrise sail
or
🌇 Sunset sail

Both calm.
Both powerful.
Both part of our story.

💬 TELL US WHY…
Is it the quiet stillness of the morning?
Or the golden glow as the day fades?
Have you got a memory tied to either? ⚓

Drop your choice below and share your thoughts
we’d love to hear them 💛
