The Roxy Collective

The Roxy Collective The Roxy Collective are a not for profit Community Interest Company, consisting of a local group of volunteers based in Ulverston, Cumbria.

Our objective is to ensure The Roxy building is preserved, restored and revitalised for our community. When the Roxy Collective was established in 2020, our main objective was purchasing a greatly loved and at-risk community asset. We hoped to protect and preserve a building of irreplaceable community and heritage value within Ulverston. As this project developed and community involvement grew, we

quickly realised the importance of uniting that pre-existing value with a robust and sustainable development programme. The Roxy already serves the community in a number of ways, but with support, outreach, and key developments, we are uniquely positioned within the area to grow and offer unparalleled opportunities to currently under-represented and under-supported groups within our community.

The Roxy collective page is rapidly moving towards having 2000 followers and we thought this milestone was worth celebrating and rewarding. We will give a bottle of Prosecco to the 2000th person who follows our page.
Will it be you?

At our recent bingo event we provided a brief update on the Roxy Phase 2 renovations:

Work continues inside the building to update and improve the fire alarm system, ensuring enhanced protection for tenants, visitors and contractors.

Plans for the foyer are also moving forward. The design we presented to the public in December is currently being reviewed against fire and building regulations, while the replacement entrance canopy is now in CAD development. The specialists involved are working together on the final structural and design details. We are also expecting the inset noticeboards on either side of the entrance doors to be installed in the coming weeks.

Plans are also being developed for the heating, ventilation, insulation, and wider sustainability improvements that form a key part of the project.

We know it can sometimes feel quiet when so much of this part of the process happens out of sight, but there is a great deal of care, time and expertise going into every step. With the support of our Project Manager and specialist team, we are continuing to work through the many moving parts involved in a renovation of this importance.

As ever, we are incredibly grateful for the support of this amazing community. We will keep sharing updates as key milestones are reached.

It was great to see some old friends and welcome new faces to our first bingo of 2026 tonight. Thanks as always to Mark & Matty at the Laurel and Hardy Museum for hosting the evening, our master of ceremony Tony Butcher and to The Roxy Cinema Ulverston, Redrock Productions and Shelley Garnett for donating raffle prizes. But most of all, thank you to everyone from the local community who turned out on a miserably damp evening to support us.
