Last night some of our 1st torrington units came together with to do our annual beach clean and what an amazing job they did they collected a whooping 27.5 kg of litter including shorts high heels fishing net and more, in just 1 hr and 15 mins down at sandymere westward ho! Last night and to say we are proud is an understatement they all got super involved well done to all girlguiders ❤️

Following on from the girls making fudge this week, we thought we would share the ingredients and method for anyone wanting to give it a go.

We would love to see any photos of giving this a go at home.

Have fun

Ingredients:
400g of chocolate (cheap chocolate normally works best). You can use milk, dark, or white chocolate.

Sweetened Condensed Milk: 1 standard tin (14 oz or about 395g - 400g). Note: Be sure to use sweetened condensed milk, not evaporated milk.

Instructions

1. Prep your pan: Line an 8x8-inch or similar small square baking tin with parchment paper or tin foil.

2. Pour both the chocolate (broken up) and the condensed milk into a large, microwave-safe bowl.

3. Microwave the mixture in short 30-second bursts. Remove and stir thoroughly after each interval so the chocolate doesn't burn. Repeat until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is silky and smooth.

4. Pour the melted mixture into your prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Chill: Place the pan in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours (or until firm). Once set, use the parchment paper to lift the fudge out, cut it into squares, and enjoy!

You can add any flavours or toppings to the fudge to make it different each time.

Over the last two weeks our girl guides have been getting creative. They made and decorated boxes and fudge for fathers day ( or man day as we like to call it).

This will also be going towards them earning an interest badge.

Last week our girl guides put there skills to building one of our volunteers tents. While not the traditional tents we use for camp it was a great team building exercise for them all they even got it back in the bag with just two attempts 😉.

While the units are term time only, there are lots of exciting plans being put in place across all the units ready for the September start back, and the new badges girlguiding are soon releasing and more.

GIRLGUIDING.
I thought it would be nice to share our thinking about girlguiding boards we did this evening.

( For world thinking day that happened over half term)
that each girl made this evening, They had to roll a dice to pick a part and then build the promise and the uniforms and units.
They look amazing and will be displayed on our notice board for a few weeks.

These were done by girls from 4 yrs up wards and there was lots of talking and fun with our big dices rolling around.

We are running a taster evening in March at the high bickington units and would love to welcome some new or even returning members.

Girls are welcome from 4 yr-10yr in High Bickington and 4 -18+ in Torrington. ( we are all part of the same district.
It's lots of fun and local, as well as affordable.

So why not give us a try & register your interest and one of our dedicated volunteer leaders will be in touch via email within 3-5 days.
