On Sunday 8th November, at the War Memorial on the Upper Den Carriageway, Teignmouth Remembrance Service and Parade will take place with Red Rock A Ca****la performing at 10:20am and the Service commencing at 10:45am.
Please also join us for our Armistice Service on Wednesday 11th November on the Triangle. Service to start at 10:45am
We hope you can join us as we come together in gratitude and remembrance.

We were delighted to attend the Stars of Teignbridge Awards ceremony last night along with Jules, Sue and Ted from the Cliffden Buddies, who were shortlisted for an award.🌟

The Cliffden Buddies are an amazing group of volunteer sighted guides who accompany visually impaired visitors to the area and the group are partnered and supported by Volunteering in Health

They were nominated in the ‘Equity and Inclusion’ category, celebrating organisations that create a strong sense of belonging and community for all. Although they didn’t win this time, it was a real honour for the volunteers to be recognised alongside so many fantastic organisations and individuals who give their time, energy and passion to help others. 🥰

It was a truly inspiring evening, hearing about the wonderful work being carried out by voluntary organisations across Teignbridge and the difference they make to so many people's lives. The dedication, kindness and commitment shown by these groups and their volunteers is incredible, and it was lovely to be part of an evening celebrating everything they do. 👏✨

A huge congratulations to all the winners and everyone who was shortlisted! You are all making a real difference in our communities, and your hard work deserves to be celebrated. ❤️

We'd like to say a huge thank you to the Friends of Dawlish Hospital for their recent generous donation of £200 to Volunteering in Health

Thanks to their support, we have been able to purchase much-needed clothing stock for the 'VIH Boutique' at Dawlish Hospital which provides essential clothing items to patients who may be admitted unexpectedly or find themselves in need during their hospital stay.

We are really grateful to the Friends of Dawlish Hospital for their continued support and for helping us provide comfort and dignity to patients in our local community. 💙

Community Transport week is coming to a close and we’ve really enjoyed shining a light on the amazing volunteers who support so many people in the community get to their vital medical appointments.

Last year our transport team supported 994 people, covering 20,986 miles and gave 1,764 of volunteer hours!

Our driver Malcolm shared his thoughts on his volunteering role:

"I started volunteering to give something back to my community, but I get just as much from it as the people I help. The conversations, friendships, and knowing I've made someone's day a little easier make it truly worthwhile."

Day 4 of Community Transport week 🚗 🚙

Our lovely volunteer driver Cheryl has been with Volunteering in Health for about 2 years and really enjoys supporting the local community.

"I enjoy the drives as it’s helping people to get to their hospital appointments. Taxis are so expensive too, Volunteering in Health is half the price for the elderly.

You meet such interesting people on your drive, the experiences of the elderly are very often forgotten…… some in the war….. some ballerinas I’ve met & some just trying to cope on their own.

If You help others it helps yourself ….. so the saying goes…. But it is sooo true.

We are excited to share that the Cliffden Buddies have been shortlisted for a Stars of Teignbridge award 👏

The buddies are a group of volunteer sighted guides who accompany visually impaired guests staying at the Cliffden Hotel to enjoy many different trips and activities whilst they are visiting our wonderful area.

Founded by Jules Griffen in 2023, the team now have around 20 sighted guides who volunteer.

Volunteering in Health are proud to support and partner with this amazing team.

Our Community Car scheme would not be possible without the dedication and support of our amazing volunteer team.

Our Community Car scheme provides an essential service for local residents who would otherwise struggle to get to their vital medical appointments.

We have an amazing team of volunteer drivers but we still find that we are turning away some requests every week as we just don't have enough drivers to meet the demand for this service.
