💬"What has The Children's Trust given me? Hope."

Over the past few weeks, we've been sharing Leo's story. After surgery to remove a brain tumour left him with a life-changing brain injury, he came to The Children's Trust for specialist rehabilitation.

Today, we're sharing his story through the eyes of his parents, Rob and Asuka.

"If I think to when we first started at The Children's Trust, it has totally changed,” Rob said.

“Now, he can walk, and Leo will be more independent. He will have a much richer life than he ever would have done if it wasn't for our time at The Children's Trust. It's changed everything."

For Asuka, one of the most special moments was seeing Leo recognise how far he'd come.

"Leo could see the progress, which made him happy as well. And that made us even happier."

This Spring Appeal, we're raising funds to help more children with brain injury access the specialist rehabilitation that gives families hope for the future.

Will you help more families like Leo's look ahead with hope and confidence?

Huge congratulations – and thank you – to Fiona and Simon ( )🎉🏆

This awesome couple recently took on an incredible 150-mile walking challenge from The Children’s Trust in Tadworth all the way to Birmingham Children’s Hospital, raising an amazing £2,175 along the way.

They took on the challenge after their grandson Isaac became seriously unwell as a baby and experienced a stroke caused by an infection. After spending time in intensive care and undergoing heart surgery at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Isaac came to The Children’s Trust for specialist neurorehabilitation.

Their challenge was a powerful way to say thank you for his care, while also raising vital funds and awareness to help other children with brain injury access life-changing care and rehabilitation

Throughout Isaac’s journey, Fiona and Simon have been a constant source of love and support for him and his family – and we’re so grateful for everything they have done.

Thank you and well done Fiona and Simon💫💖

💬“Hearing a young girl say Marco’s name for the first time after weeks of speech and language therapy practice, seeing tears of joy in her parents’ eyes and the smile on her therapist’s face...” Justine, volunteer.

After 25 years working in the NHS, Justine was inspired to train with her beloved dog Marco as a Pets As Therapy (PAT) team, bringing comfort, companionship and plenty of smiles to children, families and staff.🐕‍🦺🥹

It was moments like this that brought her to The Children’s Trust to support children with brain injury and neurodisability.

Each week, Marco arrives and the room feels a little lighter. A hand reaching out to greet him. A smile the moment he walks through the door. And often, a determination to get through therapy, knowing Marco is waiting at the end for a cuddle.🫂💖

For some, Marco is a comforting companion. For others, he's a source of motivation. But for everyone he meets, he brings smiles and sense of connection.

This , we’re celebrating Justine, Marco and all of our incredible volunteers who support every area of The Children’s Trust, making a difference where it’s needed most.🌱💛

The power of community🤝🌸

This month, we're celebrating the incredible community behind The Children’s Trust – therapists, nurses, teachers, carers, volunteers, fundraisers, donors, supporters and families.

When a child experiences a brain injury, life can change in an instant. Every day, children at The Children’s Trust work hard in therapy sessions and classrooms, relearning skills, building confidence and achieving goals that matter to them.🎯✨

Behind each achievement is a community helping make it possible. From a kind word of encouragement to a donation, volunteer shift or fundraising challenge, every act of support makes a difference.

Throughout June, we'll be shining a spotlight on the people who make our community so special, including our incredible volunteers during , dedicated supporters and the families at the heart of everything we do.💖🌱

Our bold vision for the future🔮

Children like Leo show what’s possible when specialist care, rehabilitation and innovative technology come together.

For children with brain injury and neurodisability, access to the right support and equipment can be life-changing, that’s why our vision for 2030 is bigger than ever…

By 2030, The Children's Trust wants to be leading the way in paediatric neurorehabilitation across the UK.🧠⭐

Through our Spring Appeal, you can help make that future possible. Every donation helps us invest in the care, spaces and technology that allows us to support more children and young people when they need it the most.💙🌸

Last week was Action for Brain Injury Week, an annual campaign run by Headway UK to raise awareness of acquired brain injury (ABI) and the realities faced by those living with it, and the families around them.🧠💫

This year's theme, “We See You,” shone a light on one of ABI's less visible impacts: isolation. For many people, a brain injury doesn't just affect how they move or communicate. It changes how connected you feel to the world around you. And for children and young people, that connection, to friends, to school, to everyday life, is everything.💙

We believe connection is essential. We build it through play, exploration, laughter, and fun - because when a child stops thinking about the therapy itself and simply enjoys the moment, that’s often when the most meaningful breakthroughs happen.

We stand with every child, every young person, and every family who has ever felt unseen after a brain injury.

We see you.💖
