Epsom Community Sponsorship is part of the UK Government's community sponsorship scheme, which enables communities to be directly involved in the resettlement of refugees in need of protection within the UK. The refugees that we resettle are selected by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) from areas where it is not safe for them to return to their home country. As a reaction
to the worldwide refugee crisis, a group of Epsom locals decided we want to welcome a refugee family into our neighbourhood. As part of the government's Vulnerable Persons Re-Settlement Scheme (VPRS) we are applying to become Community Sponsors. The role of our group will be to provide support - everything from finding the family a place to live to supporting them with learning English. We would like to give them the best chance of settling well into our community and having a new place they can call home. If you would like to get involved email us at:
