🌿 Introduction to Permaculture Course – July 11–12 🌿

Our popular Introduction to Permaculture Course is back this July! πŸ™Œ
πŸ“… 11th–12th July
πŸ•€ 9:30am – 4:30pm (both days)
Thanks to support from the National Lottery Awards for All, we’re delighted to offer a number of fully funded and subsidised places πŸ’š
We want to make this opportunity accessible to people who could really benefit from Permaculture training, whether in their projects, communities, workplaces, or everyday lives, but who may otherwise feel excluded due to cost.

🌱 What is the course about?
This engaging and thought-provoking introduction explores the fundamentals of Permaculture β€” an exciting and wide-ranging approach to living more ecologically and sustainably.
Across the weekend, you’ll:
✨ Learn about the ethics and principles of Permaculture
✨ Explore practical tools and design thinking
✨ Discover new ways to meet our needs sustainably
✨ Reflect on community-building and ecological living
✨ Take part in creative and interactive group exercises
You might even be asked to imagine yourself as a 🦫 beaver, 🐘 forest elephant, or resident of a fictional village!
No tests, no pressure, and no previous experience needed β€” just enthusiasm and a little imagination 🌍
🍲 We’ll also be sharing a relaxed potluck lunch, so if you’re able to bring something along to share, that would be lovely.

♻️ HELP OUT WHEN YOU MOVE OUT – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! πŸ’š

We've already collected over a hundred of bags of donations from student houses across Brynmill, and now we need your help sorting them!

πŸ“ Brynmill Community Centre
πŸ—“ Tuesday 16th June
⏰ 11am–3pm

Come along and help us sort donations that will be redistributed to local charities, community groups and people who need them. Whether you can spare an hour or stay for the whole session, we'd love to see you there.

We're also inviting:
🏑 Local charities and community organisations looking for useful items
πŸ›  Community projects in need of household goods, equipment or supplies
πŸ‘• Anyone who could make use of donated items

Alongside the sorting session, there will also be an opportunity to grab yourself some bargains. If there's something you need, come and have a lookβ€”you might find exactly what you're after while supporting a great cause.

Every item reused is one less item going to landfill and one more item helping someone in our community. 🌍

No experience needed – just bring yourself and a willingness to help!

Together we can reduce waste, support local good causes, and make student move-out greener for everyone. β™»οΈπŸ’š

🌱✨ St Thomas Postcode Gardener Project Update ✨🌱

We had a fantastic couple of sessions at Midland Court (Morris Lane) recently 🌼
Working alongside Debi (site manager), our team and volunteers filled four large raised beds with six bulk bags of soilβ€”ready for planting! We’ve created a mix of flowering perennials at the front and fruit & veg at the back πŸ“πŸŒΏ
A huge thank you to Debi’s mum Liz for generously providing all the plants (grown from seed and cuttings!) and sharing her expertiseβ€”those vintage shopping baskets were a lovely touch πŸ’š
And of course, a big shoutout to our amazing volunteers who worked tirelessly in the heat to make it all happen πŸ™Œ
🌿 We’ve also been working at Charles Thomas House (Port Tennant Road) with residents and young people from Port Tennant Youth Club to create positive garden changes. Thanks to Gwilliam for helping bring this partnership together.
We’re continuing to make nature-friendly improvements across St Thomas and Port Tennant 🌸
