Our Refugee Week Quiz Night had it all! Packed out shop full of quizzers, a tense three-way tiebreaker, happy winners, and a fun time had by all! AND a strong sense of support and solidarity in Swansea, AND money raised for OXFAM's work in Gaza!

(Our next event is this Saturday; Fairtrade Coffee Morning in the shop at 11am, celebrating our Shop Of Sanctuary status... with CAKE!!!) (And also all week : Displays in the shop of writings about reading by our volunteers, and "Refugees Welcome" Book Cover Art created at The Waterfront Museum's lovely Refugee Week event last Sunday.)

Happy Refugee Week! We started our Refugee Week activities at an event organised by Swansea's wonderful Waterfront Museum, which is a Museum of Sanctuary. We had a stall full of books with inside-out dust jackets. These provided blank canvases for people to design their own book covers celebrating our City of Sanctuary and spreading messages of peace, love and welcome.
Thank You to everyone who joined in!
The books are now on display in our shop window, alongside our lovely new OXFAM Refugee Welcome posters!

We are supporting , and celebrating the creativity of our shop team this , with an instore display of writing about reading. Our shop volunteers have written about their love of books, their favourite books, and how they first began to read. The articles are on display in the shop now.

In , and always, we say THANK YOU to our volunteers! We had a party at the lovely The Environment Centre and Janet and Jean, who were among the volunteer team who set up our shop in 1975, were our guests of honour, and presented long service awards to volunteers who'd completed 1/5/10 or 15 years service volunteering in our shop! Diolch yn fawr iawn i chi gyd!

Happy Volunteers' Week!
Our volunteers are being treated to a well deserved party on Tuesday (2nd), so the shop will be closed from 11.30ish - 2.30ish... so if you want to visit us, come early or come late!
