2nd Cheadle Scout Group Public Page 2nd Cheadle Scout Group based in Cheadle, Cheshire, SK8 1EX Welcome to the public page of 2nd Cheadle Scout Group. There’s something for every young person.

Established in 1917, the Group is one of the largest independent Scout Groups in our District and is based on The Paddock, off Brookfield Road, Cheadle SK8 1EX. The Group consists of two Beaver Scout colonies; two Cub Scout packs a Scout troop and our Discovery Explorer Scout Unit.

2nd Cheadle Scout Group is part of the UK's biggest mixed youth organisation. We change lives by offering 6 to 25-ye

ar-olds fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and the chance to help others so that we make a positive impact in communities. Scouting helps children and young adults reach their full potential by develop skills including teamwork, time management, leadership, initiative, planning, communication, self-motivation, cultural awareness and commitment. We help young people to get jobs, save lives and even change the world. Members take part in activities as diverse as kayaking, abseiling, expeditions overseas, photography, climbing and zorbing. They can learn survival skills, first aid, computer programming, or even how to fly a plane. It’s a great way to have fun, make friends, get outdoors, express your creativity and experience the wider world. All sections have a waiting list so if your child would like to join, please register your interest at http://2ndcheadlescoutgroup.co.uk/contact-us/

Want to volunteer as an Adult leader? This everyday adventure is possible thanks to our adult volunteers, who support Scouts in a wide range of roles from working directly with young people, to helping manage a Group, to being a charity Trustee. We help volunteers get the most out of their experiences at Scouts by providing opportunities for adventure, training, fun and friendship. Our award-winning training scheme for volunteers means that adults get as much from Scouts as young people. Our approach focuses on what you want to get out of volunteering with Scouts, while respecting how much time you can offer. Over 90% of Scout volunteers say that their skills and experiences have been useful in their work or personal life. Email [email protected] for volunteering positions available.

What an amazing day we had on Saturday for our 48th Ram Roast.

It was a roaring success, blessed with great weather and fantastic support from the community of Cheadle.

Thank you to everyone who joined in the fun with Chris Mitchell Entertainment, Northenden Pipe Band, Alicia School of Dancing & Dance Affinity, first response support by Community Medics CIC, traffic management support with Totally Local Company & Stockport Council.

The event wouldn't be possible without the amazing Group Trustees, leadership team and parents who worked tirelessly to ensure the Ram Roast happens each year.

It's looking like a record breaker fundraiser with every penny raised going straight back in the running of 2nd Cheadle Scout Group.

Thank you 👏👏👏👏!

It was good to attend the 2nd Cheadle Ram Roast yesterday and even better to be reminded of the incredible work that they and their army of volunteers and supporters does. The following extracts from the Group Leader’s welcome say it all:

‘The Ram Roast is the Group's main fundraising event and has been a fixture in the local calendar since 1976. The contribution that the Ram Roast bring to the Group is more than just a financial one, however, because it showcases the role that 2nd Cheadle plays in the community and has proven to be a great way of recruiting new members over the years.

Our Group starts with our two Squirrels Dreys for 4-5 year olds, and progresses through Beavers (6-7 y/o), Cubs (8-10.5 y/o), Scouts (10.5-14 y/o), Explorers (14-18 y/o) and our Network section (18-25 y/o) for those members who have reached adulthood and wish to remain involved in the Scouting movement.

Every penny that we raise from the Ram Roast is invested back into the Group and we use this income to invest in new equipment, maintain our premises and deliver activities that enable our young members to learn new skills, experience things that they may not otherwise get the chance to enjoy and, most importantly, having fun and making friends’.
