Welcome to the public page for 2071 (Stamford) Squadron Royal Air Force Air Cadets. We offer a broad range of activities and opportunities.

Join the 2071 family
Monday & Wednesday 1900-2100
with cadets aged 12 (Year 8) - 17 years.
*RAFBF Air Training Corps of the Year 2022*

We are open to young people aged 12 (in school year 8) to 17 years old. This is what it's all about - activities that offer challenge, excitement and adventure and the knowledge you pick up along the way through structured lectures and first-hand experience. Don't worry about being thrown in at the deep end. You’ll join your local squadron as a trial, when you get to know the other cadets and start basic training. You then get gradually introduced to activities as you progress, so you can make the most of every opportunity that comes your way.

Further celebrating the achievements of our Cadets, we proudly share with you a video interview with FS Lumb, who earlier this month completed his Sail Plane Licence and became the current youngest qualified glider pilot in the UK.

A huge congratulations to our amazing Service Instructor for winning the Active Community Champion Award at the Witt Awards tonight!! 🏆

His outstanding work with the cadets and other community groups have clearly not just blown us away at 2071 but also the RAF Wittering staff too! 💪

🌟Record-holding UK Youth Aviator🌟

FS Lumb gained his glider pilot licence and during the Cadet week was confirmed to be the youngest holder of a glider pilot licence!!! 🌟

Aviation Achievements:
Records: In 2025, he earned his Flight Radiotelephony Operators Licence (FRTOL). By October 2026, he completed his Sailplane Pilot Licence (SPL) with his Gliding Club, making him the youngest SPL and FRTOL holder in the UK.

Fundraising: He actively raises money for the RAF Association.

Well done and congratulations FS Lumb for this fabulous achievement 🌟 We’re all very proud of you 🌟
