Spennymoor Youth and Community Association

Spennymoor Youth and Community Association Spennymoor Youth & Community Association is a Charity Incorporated Organisation So please watch this space.

Spennymoor Youth and Community Association is a Registered Charity (CIO) working in Spennymoor and surrounding areas. The centre was built in 1969 and has gone by a number of different names over the years including Spennymoor Open Youth Club, Spennymoor Youthy and our current legal name is Spennymoor Youth and Community Association. In January 2016 the management committee started the process of

taking on the centre through the Durham Ask (Community Asset Transfer). This transfer was agreed in October 2016 and we are currently in the process of agreeing a new 30 year lease for the building. We have some ambitious plans for 2017 including replacement of the windows (July/August 2017) to make the building more energy efficient and reduce running costs. Plans for later in the year also include (subject to receiving the funding) replacement of the boiler and associated pipework for the building. We have just had a new door access / entry system installed along side a new CCTV system. The external of the building has also been painted with special anti carbonisation paint which has improved the look of the building. We will be over the next few months updating you all as to what is happening and out plans to continue to offer Children and Young People access to Youth Work Activities.

No single sign will indicate that your child is being bullied, but these are some things you can watch out for. 💚

Search ‘NSPCC Bullying’ for advice on what to do if you think your child is being bullied, or bullying someone else.

__

A graphic titled ‘Signs of bullying in children…’ and the following points in colourful blocks:
- A change in behaviour, including being nervous, losing confidence, or becoming distressed and withdrawn
- Belongings getting ‘lost’ or damaged
- A change in how they’re doing at school
- Asking for, or stealing, money (to give to whoever’s bullying them)
- Physical injuries, such as unexplained bruises
- Being afraid to go to school, being mysteriously ‘ill’ each morning, or skipping school
- A change in eating or sleeping habits
- Bulling others
