It's great to discover new things, we all do it, every day! Indeed, discovery can be incredibly beneficial for a number of reasons, so let's look at some these:

- Personalised Learning. Discovery can allow children to learn at their own pace, adapting to learning styles and needs

- Empowerment and Autonomy. Discovery enables children to take control of their learning, making choices and decisions that promote independence and confidence.

- Developing Skills. Discovery helps individuals develop essential skills such as, problem solving, critical thinking, and creativity, which are valuable in all aspects of life.

- Social Interaction. Discovery can facilitate social interaction through group activities, shared interests and building relationships

Furthermore, discovery can provide a flexible and adaptable approach to learning and exploration.

So what have we got?

Well, a while host of discovery boxes on a wide variety of themes

Road safety, colours, fine motor and gross motor skills, circus skills, sea discovery, dinosaurs, human body, music and sound, pirates, space, and many more!!

Do you have a jumper?
Often children who like to jump are seeking sensory input ( proprioceptive and vestibular) building muscle strength and developing balance and co- ordination.
Jumping is part of development that helps regulate their nervous system, release energy and express joy.
To support this we have bounce pads, trampettes, squeaky stepping stones and jumping games.

Who doesn't like a story? I reckon we all do, I've told a few tall ones over the years myself!

But seriously, stories are a fantastic way to learn and grow, so let me tell you a little 'tale'....
Stories with simple and clear language can improve reading skills and vocabulary
Stories with characters who have similar experiences can make children feel less alone
Stories can teach social cues, boundaries and relationships
Stories can help children to understand and manage their emotions
Stories can help build empathy to understand different perceptions and feelings

We have loads available, we call them story bags, so you don't just get a book, you get a toy, a teddy or an object to support the story

So, are you ready to 'book' out a story with us?

Spinning

Spinning provides intense vestibular input ( balance and spacial orientation) that helps manage overwhelming environments and gives necessary stimulation.

Children can often use spinning ( whether spinning themselves or visually tracking something that spins) as a means to regulate the sensory system, cope with overwhelming situations, self sooth, express happiness, manage anxiety, process information and work off excess energy.

Instead of trying to stop this behaviour, as it is often of great benefit, provide safe areas for children to fulfil this sensory need.

The learning library has many spinning items for loan.
