🍷 W**e Tasting – Saturday 14 November 🍷

Just a reminder that tickets are on sale for the 1st Portsmouth Sea Scouts W**e Tasting, being held at Portsmouth Sailing Club on Saturday 14 November.

It will be a great, relaxed evening — Camber W**es will be running the tasting, with nibbles and a cheese board included.

📅 Saturday 14 November
🍷 Bar open from 7pm
🍇 Tasting starts promptly at 8pm
🎟️ £25 per person

All proceeds from the evening will support our A Scout Hut Fit for the Future fundraising appeal.

We’ll also be holding a raffle on the night, so if anyone has a prize they would be willing to donate, we’d be very grateful.

Our Explorers tapped into their creative sides recently with an art experience session.
They decorated biscuits, created pictures with metallic stickers and miraculously stayed pretty clean whilst swinging bottles of paint around with some truly impressive results. 🎨

Our Cubs had a great time building their own marshmallow spaghetti Eiffel Towers as part of a French evening. Trés bien!

W**E TASTING FUNDRAISER 🍷🧀

Join us for a relaxed and sociable evening of w**e tasting with Camber W**es, raising money for A Scout Hut Fit for the Future.

There’ll be a selection of w**es to taste, along with nibbles and a cheese board to enjoy during the evening.

We’ll also be holding a raffle on the night — donations of raffle prizes would be very gratefully received.

🏠 Can you help us create “A Scout Hut Fit for the Future”?

We’re restoring and refurbishing the 1st Portsmouth Sea Scouts’ hut. Thanks to our supporters, we’ve raised **over £200,000** and secured a long-term lease. Now we need more people to help us plan and cost the work.

We’d love to hear from anyone with experience in **building trades, electrical work, plumbing, scaffolding, project management, fundraising or grant applications**. We’re especially looking for tradespeople and companies who could help us obtain quotations.

You don’t need to take on a big commitment. Advice, an introduction, a recommendation or help with one part of the project could make a real difference.

🏕️ Summer Camp 2026 – What a Week!

This summer, our Scouts and Explorers spent a fantastic week at Woodhouse Park near Bristol, packed with adventure, challenges and plenty of opportunities to learn new skills.

Throughout the week our young people took on a huge variety of activities. They navigated their way across the countryside using maps and compasses, crossed the Severn Bridge on foot, went surfing, climbed in the Mendips and headed underground to explore a cave.

They also visited Bristol and SS Great Britain, designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, who has strong connections with Portsmouth.

But camp isn't just about the activities. Living together for a week meant working as patrols, cooking their own meals, washing up, keeping their camp organised and looking after each other.

One of the highlights was our Patrol Cooking Competition, where each patrol had to plan and shop for a three-course meal before cooking and serving it to our team of leader judges — and, importantly, clearing everything up afterwards!

It was a brilliant week at Woodhouse Park and a great example of what Scouting is all about: adventure, independence, teamwork and Skills for Life.

A huge well done to all our Scouts and Explorers for throwing themselves into everything the week had to offer, and thank you to our volunteer leaders who gave up their time to make the camp possible.

Now we're looking forward to seeing what Summer Camp 2027 in Faversham has in store for us!

Our Explorers enjoyed a final evening on the water for the season with some rib driving. What a great season! We can't wait to be back on the water next Spring, but have lots of great stuff planned for the Winter months too.
