The Brickworks Museum A family-friendly Museum in Hampshire with a thriving programme of events. Open March-October. You can even have a go at making your own brick.

Come and be amazed at the authentic sights, sounds and smells of the last stream-driven Victorian brickworks in the UK. Follow in the footsteps of the brickmakers to see how bricks were once made here by the million and experience what a Victorian factory with its huge machinery was like. There really is something for everyone, lots of hands-on activities for children of all ages. Plenty of space inside if the weather is poor and we welcome well behaved dogs on leads. Once a month all the machinery is steamed up and the place hums with life again. We have four stationary engines, a railway on site, resident traction engines who help us put on a really good day out – no chance of getting bored! An inexpensive family visit, with lots of brick related activities and family trails. Enjoy free parking, snacks, drinks and gift shop.

And that’s a wrap on our standard opening of the museum collection for 2026! THANK YOU to all our supporters; every visit helps keep our museum open. So although our normal opening hours have ceased until the spring, you can still support us by coming along to one of our fantastic winter events! Put these dates in your diary (more details about each event on our website):

🎄🎅Sunday 29th November - Victorian Christmas Market and Steam Up with a visit from Santa!

🤶 👩‍🎨Saturday 5th and Sunday 5th December- A quieter Christmas event with crafts especially aimed at our youngest visitors. (Ticket includes a gift left for you from Santa when you visit Mrs Claus at the end of your crafts.)

☕️🍰👩‍🎨Wednesday 9th and 16th December - Christmas Crafternoons. An exclusive tour, tea and cake and pottery painting session for groups of friends to enjoy the festive season.

🎶🎄Sunday 13th December - Christmas Community Sing-a-long fundraising event. Come and sing with us around the trees and help us raise valuable funds for the museum.

The collection here has thousands of bricks! Not just Bursledon bricks but donations from all over. Our fantastic team in the archives unwrap, sort, photograph and catalogue all the bricks that arrive here busily behind the scenes! Are there any you’d love to see on a visit here?

**NEW***👻After Hours, join us for a Halloween Twilight Ghost Tour 👻
This Halloween, bring the whole family to the Brickworks Museum for a twilight ghost tour made for young adventurers. Grab your torch, collect your Ghost Hunter’s Card and follow our guide through the Machine Room, the Drying Sheds and the old Kiln, where strange things have been heard, seen and even smelt over the years.
Along the way you’ll hunt for hidden ghostly clues, test your bravery with spooky challenges, and help solve the mystery of the brickworks’ most mischievous ghost before the last light fades. Every brave hunter earns their official Ghost Hunter’s Certificate!

Spooky, silly and full of surprises, it’s the perfect first ghost tour for little ones (and a great excuse for grown-ups to join in too).

📅 Wednesday 28 & Thursday 29 October
🕓 4pm and 5pm (tours last approx. 45 minutes)
👻 Recommended for ages 4–10, with accompanying adults
🎃 Fancy dress encouraged!

Coming along to our Autumn Steam Up this Sunday 25th October 2026? Thanks to our friends at Southampton & District Transport Heritage Trust we will have a shuttle running between Swanwick Station, Sarisbury Green Shops and the museum. 🚌🚌🚌

⏰Starting at 10.30am all the way until the end of the event, you don't have to worry about parking so come along and enjoy this free service.
