It's never a dull day in respite at Rose Road, with indivually tailored activities and opportunities for crafting, baking, building, water play, or just resting on the comfy bean bags! At Rose Road, everyone can be themselves and do what brings them joy. 🩷

"It's his only access to the community at the moment".

This year, our summer holiday activities club supported 66 families, nine of which were welcomed for the first time, and delivered 386 sessions in total for children aged 4 to 18. Children like William, aged 8.

His Dad explains: "For the last year, William has not been able to attend school. He withdrew completely, and now we find it impossible to access the community with him. At Rose Road he's got his one to one support, he feels safe. If he was home with me, we’d be trapped in the house all day. It's his only access to the community at the moment".

A huge well done and thank you to Sam and Amelia from Churchers Solicitors who skydived and raised an amazing £1,260, which could fund nearly a month of Hydrotherapy.

Our £20,000 annual hydrotherapy programme delivers more than 2,000 specialised sessions in our warm, calming, hoist-accessible hydropool, helping disabled children and young adults to improve their mobility, strength, water confidence and wellbeing.

It is only through support like this from Sam and Amelia, and through your donations and amazing fundraising efforts, that we can keep offering hydrotherapy and other vital therapies for disabled young people to enjoy at Rose Road.

As an astounding example of how a community acting together makes a big difference, and with just a 25p donation per customer, our Pennies at the Till scheme at Haskins Garden Centre, West End has raised an incredible £2,388 for Rose Road, just since April! 🤯

This could fund 119 hydrotherapy sessions, 40 sessions of group dance, 47 trips on an accessible boat for four wheelchair users or 4 emergency respite nights.

So remember, next time you're at Haskins, press that green button✅ and be part of a community creating so many more opportunities for disabled people to find joy, creative expression, friendship and independence every day with Rose Road.

Taking a young person with complex disabilities and behaviours to a busy funfair can be daunting for many as it can feel difficult to keep them feeling safe and happy.

That's why we always place support workers with young people in the ratios they need, and with those they know well, to keep them feeling safe, secure and able to enjoy all the fun of the fair!
