⚽️🧑‍🦼 Muscle Help Foundation partners with South East Powerchair Football League ⚽️🧑‍🦼

The South East Powerchair Football League (SEPFL) has announced a new two-year partnership with The Muscle Help Foundation (MHF), becoming the Muscle Help Foundation South East Powerchair Football League for the 2026–27 and 2027–28 seasons.

The partnership builds on MHF’s longstanding connection with powerchair football, including its former Muscle Warriorsteam and sponsorship of The Wheelchair Football Association’s Barry O’Leary Services to Powerchair Football Award. The new agreement will extend this support across regional competition, benefiting players and clubs throughout the South East.

Established in 2013, the SEPFL currently brings together 11 teams and around 70 players across two divisions, with five competition days each season. Teams include Solent PFC in Hampshire, Norwich City PFC in Norfolk and Sevenoaks PFC in Kent.

Regional leagues provide vital opportunities for players to compete regularly close to home, while supporting player development, club sustainability and continued participation in the sport.

SEPFL Chairperson Alan Murray said the organisations share a passion for creating opportunities and inspiring communities, while MHF founder and CEO Michael McGrath MBE highlighted the sport’s role in building confidence, ambition, connection and belonging.

The partnership will also create opportunities for joint awareness, storytelling and engagement, highlighting the experiences of players and families and the important role powerchair football plays in their lives.

A muscletastic thanks to the Clocktower Terrace at Rudding Park Hotel for hosting another Meatballs for Muscular Dystrophy fundraiser to raise funds for our charity.

For every Albondigas (tapas-style pork and beef meatballs with tomato and garlic sauce and parmesan) sold, £1.50 is donated to our cause which provides accessible experiences for children, young people and young adults living with Muscular Dystrophy (MD).

The fundraiser is on until the end of the summer, so next time you are in Harrogate, please head over to Rudding Park to support The Muscle Help Foundation.

We're delighted to announce that The Muscle Help Foundation and The Duchenne Family Support Group have teamed up to host a Men’s Weekend from Friday 18 – Sunday 20 September at the Ramada Hotel & Suites Coventry.

With eight places available, this weekend has been created to give fathers and male carers of children living with Muscular Dystrophy (MD) the chance to relax, connect and share experiences with others who truly “get it”.

Accommodation (four twin rooms for up to eight men), breakfast and the Friday evening meal are all included. Activities will feature a visit to the Coventry Transport Museum on Saturday, followed by a gentle, relaxing walk on Sunday.

Arrival is from 3pm onwards on Friday 18 September, and the weekend will conclude at 3pm on Sunday 20 September.

Today marks nine years since Sam fulfilled his ambition to drive a car.

Our Chief Muscle Warrior and CEO, Michael McGrath, approached the Motability Scheme to find a vehicle with suitable adaptations that would enable Sam to drive for the first time in his life.

Sam’s Muscle Dream began with an overnight stay and family dinner on Tuesday 22 August at Whittlebury Park Hall. After enjoying the fabulous food provided by the hotel, Sam and his family gathered in the Silverstone Bar to meet MHF’s Hosting Team. The first of many treats included a family swing‑ball session in the courtyard and a surprise reveal of Sam’s favourite gadget: a £10,000 S1000 Octocopter drone, brought along by drone aerial filming and photography specialists CineCloud.

Unaware of what was to come, Sam travelled to a mystery destination where, for the first time in his life, he took the wheel for an hour‑long driving experience, accompanied by one of Motability’s specially trained driving advisors. “I can’t thank you enough,” said Sam’s dad, Lee, after watching his son reverse and park up at the end of his lesson.
