Every child and young person deserves the opportunity to feel included, build friendships, grow in confidence and simply have fun.

That's why Focus Foundation is proud to have awarded a grant of £4,674 to support Easter holiday activities and trips delivered by Kangaroos Sussex for children, teenagers and adults with learning disabilities and additional needs across Mid Sussex.

💙 About Kangaroos:

For more than 30 years, Kangaroos has been creating safe, inclusive spaces where people with learning disabilities can thrive.

What began as a small parent-led play scheme in 1994 has grown into a charity supporting hundreds of children, young people and adults through year-round clubs, activities, trips and residential experiences.

Their work provides opportunities for friendship, independence, confidence-building and belonging, while also offering valuable respite for families and carers.

👋 Visiting Kangaroos:

Recently, our CEO, Katie Gibson, and Grants & Charity Manager, Mandi Stanley, had the privilege of volunteering with Kangaroos' PALS school holiday group.

Spending time with the children and young people, joining activities and seeing the confidence and joy these sessions create was incredibly inspiring.

What stood out most was the strong sense of belonging. Being surrounded by peers with similar experiences gave attendees a space where they felt understood, accepted and supported, a powerful reminder of why inclusive opportunities like these matter so much.

⭐ The impact of our grant:

Our funding helped support Easter holiday activities and trips for 60 children, teenagers and adults, creating memorable experiences, meaningful connections and opportunities to develop confidence and independence.

We're incredibly grateful to Becky Coles, Jenni Herrit and the entire Kangaroos team for the warm welcome and for the extraordinary work they continue to do for families across Mid Sussex.

We are delighted to share that Focus Foundation has been named a finalist in the Charity Champions category at the 2026 Channel Champions Awards! 🏆

The recognition celebrates our inaugural Angels' Den Sussex event, which brought together charities, donors, business leaders and community supporters, awarding more than £113,440 to grassroots charities across Sussex. The event provided a platform for incredible organisations to share their stories, raise awareness, secure vital funding and build meaningful connections that will help them thrive long into the future.

Whether we bring home the award or not, we're incredibly proud of what Angels' Den achieved and the communities it continues to support. 💙

We are also thrilled to see our friends at Focus Group shortlisted in the MSP/Reseller Sales & Account Management Team category. It's a well-deserved recognition of the dedication, expertise and customer-first approach that underpins everything they do, and we're incredibly proud to celebrate this achievement alongside them.

Congratulations to everyone shortlisted this year! We look forward to joining you in celebrating the achievements, innovation and passion of some truly outstanding organisations.

100 miles. One treadmill. An extraordinary achievement.

A huge congratulations to the fantastic Robert Nunn of Viegli, who on Sunday 16th May completed an epic 100 mile treadmill challenge at Viegli HQ, raising funds for Focus Foundation and Help for Heroes.

Stopping only for comfort breaks and food, Robert pushed himself to the limit to complete the challenge - a remarkable test of resilience, determination and commitment to making a difference.

Earlier this year, Robert began his fundraising journey by conquering his fear of heights on the Velocity 2 zip wire, and somehow, he’s only continued to raise the bar since then!

Next up? Abseiling from the 450ft-high i360 in Brighton… because apparently 100 miles on a treadmill wasn’t challenging enough.

So far, Robert has raised an incredible £2,563.75 in support of Focus Foundation and Help for Heroes, an amazing achievement, with more challenges still to come.

We are hugely grateful for Robert’s ongoing support, dedication and willingness to go to such extraordinary lengths to help others. 💜

“What this funding means goes far beyond the night itself.”

In 2025, Brighton Table Tennis Club secured the £25,000 headline award at Angels’ Den Sussex, supporting the growth of a nationally recognised junior coaching programme and expanding access to sport across Brighton.

Here’s what Co-Founder Tim Holtam had to say:

“We are absolutely delighted. Our young coaches are incredible, and this funding means we can invest in their development and bring the sport into more communities across Brighton. This will genuinely help change lives.”

This is what Angels’ Den Sussex is all about.

Backing grassroots organisations. Unlocking potential. Creating lasting impact in the communities that need it most.

Violence prevention is about far more than reacting in moments of crisis, it’s about creating environments where young people feel supported, valued and able to imagine a different future for themselves.

That’s why Focus Foundation is proud to support ART AGAINST KNIVES with a £4,000 grant towards their October 2026 half term programme.

Art Against Knives was created following the unprovoked stabbing of 21-year-old art student Oliver Hemsley in 2008, an event that changed lives forever and sparked a determination to tackle the deeper causes of youth violence.

What began as a fundraising exhibition organised by Oliver’s friends and fellow students has since grown into one of London’s pioneering youth organisations, working alongside young people most affected by violence, exploitation and systemic inequality.

For the past 15 years, Art Against Knives has created safe, creative spaces where young people can access mentoring, specialist support and creative opportunities at a pace that works for them, while ensuring their voices remain central to the conversations and systems around them.

💙 How our grant will support Art Against Knives' mission:

Our funding will support Art Against Knives’ October half term programme for young people aged between 10 and 25, who are disproportionately impacted by violence, abuse, exploitation and social exclusion.

School holidays can often be periods of increased vulnerability for young people already facing significant challenges. Through this programme, Art Against Knives will provide safe spaces, trusted relationships and creative activities designed to bring young people off the streets and into supportive environments where they can connect, express themselves and build confidence.

Many of the young people supported by Art Against Knives are affected by domestic abuse, mental health challenges, care experience and involvement with the criminal justice system.

By focusing on creativity, connection and early intervention, Art Against Knives continues to provide meaningful alternatives to violence and helps young people build safer, more hopeful futures on their own terms.

Hearing directly from our donors matters.

Their support plays a vital role in helping us fund grassroots charities across the UK, organisations making a real difference in their communities every day.

“I am so pleased to have found the Focus Foundation. The team seek out well managed and deserving charities that are away from the mainstream view that diligently apply donations to make a tangible difference in a community.” - Bart Delgado, Focus Foundation Donor.

Support like this helps ensure that vital work continues, reaching the people and communities who need it most.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’ve been reflecting on the importance of support, connection and simply knowing that someone is there to listen. 💚

More people than ever are struggling with their mental health. In England, rates of common mental health conditions have risen from 15.5% in 1993 to 22.6% in 2023/24* - a reminder that anxiety, grief, isolation, trauma and self-doubt are affecting millions of people every day, often quietly and often alone.

That’s why the work of mental health charities is so important. These organisations provide safe spaces, compassionate support and hope during some of life’s hardest moments, reminding people that they do not have to face things alone.

We feel incredibly proud to support charities making a real difference in people’s lives every single day.

💙 Flourish Mentors.
We recently supported their Flourishing Voices project, helping young women build confidence, manage anxiety and navigate the pressures of social media through inclusive, co-created workshops shaped by lived experience.

💙 StrongMen.
We’ve supported their Man2Man Extra Time South East programme, providing men facing grief, trauma and suicidal thoughts with access to free bereavement counselling and a supportive community that understands what they’re going through.

💙 The Harbour Bristol.
We’re honoured to support their compassionate counselling services, helping people navigate bereavement, loss and some of life’s most difficult moments with care and dignity.

Alongside these organisations, we’re also very proud to support charities including MindOut LGBTQ, Stop.Breathe.Think., Ripple Su***de Prevention Charity, The Quiet Mind Centre, LooseHeadz and more, all working tirelessly to ensure that nobody has to struggle alone.

This week is an important reminder that mental health matters every day. A conversation, a check-in, a supportive space or a listening ear can make a huge difference.

To everyone supporting others - thank you. And to anyone currently struggling: you are not alone. 💚
