We are delighted to announce that Football Unites, Racism Divides (FURD) has been successful in securing Youth Music Trailblazer Fund.

At FURD, activities are always underway, creating opportunities for young people to learn, grow and belong. This new funding will enable us to expand our music programme, giving more young people the chance to develop creative skills, build confidence, collaborate with others and express themselves through music.

We are excited about the positive impact this project will have on the lives of young people and the wider community, and we are grateful to Youth Music for investing in the potential of the next generation. Youth Music

We know that strong communities are built through understanding, shared experiences and respect for one another. That is why we remain committed to creating opportunities that unite people rather than divide them.

FROM FLEEING WAR TO FINDING A NEW FAMILY IN SHEFFIELD ⚽❤️

A refugee who arrived in Sheffield with nothing but hope has spoken about how football helped transform his life.

Abdullah Noamon fled conflict in Sudan and arrived in the city in 2021 without knowing the language, the culture or many people. Today, thanks to Football Unites Racism Divides (FURD) and its community football sessions, he has built friendships, confidence and a sense of belonging.

The group brings together refugees and asylum seekers from across the world, using sport to break down barriers, create lasting friendships and help people settle into life in Sheffield. Abdullah says the sessions have become a huge part of his life, helping him find happiness, support and peace after experiencing unimaginable loss.

Stories like this show the very best of Sheffield – a city where people from all backgrounds can come together, support one another and build a brighter future.

We were extremely pleased to join hands with SBC, launching the Around the World campaign at FURD as part of the Solidarity Cup.

In a world that can often feel divided, initiatives like this remind us of what truly unites us: community, friendship, understanding, and a shared sense of belonging.

The Solidarity Cup is more than a football tournament; it is a celebration of the connections that bring people together across cultures, backgrounds, and experiences. Together, we continue to show that our common humanity is always stronger than the things that divide us.

Our 11-a-side squad has space for new players! Must have some football experience, support the aims of FURD and be able to commit to training on Wednesday evenings and matches on Sunday afternoons from September to April. Come along to our informal trial sessions on the dates on the poster or email Ruth.
Anyone who fancies playing football without the commitment is welcome at our fun friendly sessions at 6-7pm on Tuesday at U-Mix Centre Sheffield .
