Meet Body Paint – an Arctic Monkeys-inspired lion🎶🦁

Ten years ago, Arctic Monkeys were part of our Herd of Sheffield trail, with their iconic black and white elephant- which has pride of place in the Winter Garden 🐘

Now have a beautiful lioness to add to their collection.

And there’s also a lovely story behind the artist they chose.

A few years ago, Sheffield artist was close to giving up on being an artist when he got an unexpected call from the Arctic Monkeys team asking him to create the artwork for their Hillsborough Park tour poster.

So when we approached the band for Pride of Yorkshire and they selected Alex again, he couldn’t quite believe it.

In his words, he’s still “stunned” they know who he is!

Inspired by the soundwaves of their song Body Paint, Alex painstakingly cut out the right length strips to match the song, sprayed in beautiful copper and then peeled off the tape to reveal this stunner.

The lioness is one to look out for on the trail!

Our lions are being installed all across South Yorkshire ahead of Monday's launch.

A couple of lions that had been installed have been temporarily removed for repairs, so they are pawfect ready for the start!

Please don't be alarmed. They're safe and well!

We can't wait to go live with the trail on 8th June! 🐾🦁

😼 Meet Once Were Warriors - a lioness by one of Sheffield best-loved artists Pete Mckee Art

With the sculptures being lions, Pete decided to have a bit of fun… taking a playful swipe at the domesticated cat.

The pampered, lazy, rotund felines who rule our homes and steal our beds🐾

Packed with personality, this lioness features a whole cast of cats, from Sheffield-inspired names like Fishcake, to others gifted by fans and carrying deeper meanings.

And if you look closely, some names even came from the wonderful brain of national treasure Bob Mortimer 🌞

Pete says the piece has been a real labour of love, with detailed illustrations inspired by tattoo art – quite different from his usual style.

🪶✨ The Barnsley Nightingale has joined the Pride 🐦‍⬛🎵

Fantastic to meet Kate Rusby in Elsecar Park as she signed Underneath The Stars – her very own lioness, beautifully designed by artist Matt Sewall.

One of the UK’s best-loved folk singers, Kate’s sculpture takes inspiration from one of her much-loved album titles. 🌌🌟

From 8 June, Underneath The Stars will be arriving somewhere very close to where these pictures were taken 📸

Howzat for a signing?! 🏏🦁

England and Yorkshire cricket legend Joe Root MBE officially met our cricket-themed lioness and signed her bat!

is a patron of Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity and met Wicket at his home club, Sheffield Collegiate Cricket Club, ahead of the trail launching across South Yorkshire this summer.

Created by artist , cricket fans will be able to find Wicket in Millhouses Park from June 8th.

Starting 8th June, Pride of Yorkshire will take over Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster.

From the historic ruins of Monk Bretton Priory to the blooms of the Botanical Gardens, as well as family favourites like Magna Science Adventure Centre Our Cow Molly Farm and The Doncaster Dome

Pride of Yorkshire will help you discover some of South Yorkshire’s best-loved places ❤️

🦁🤘 Bring Me The Horizon have joined Pride of Yorkshire.

Meet dreamseeker - the band’s specially designed lion for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity’s Pride of Yorkshire trail.

Named after the opening track on Post Human: Nex Gen, the sculpture was designed by drummer Mat Nicholls and brought to life by Sheffield artist .enso.enso.

Inspired by the idea of a forgotten landmark, dreamseeker is covered in moss and graffiti - with hidden nods for fans to discover 👀

You’ll be able to find dreamseeker on the trail from 8 June, as 150 lions roar across South Yorkshire to celebrate 150 years of Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

After the trail, sculptures will be sold at auction.

🦁⚽ Back in March, we were lucky enough to spend an hour with Esme Morgan after an England match.

Between playing for the Lionesses and catching her flight back to the US, Esme made time to meet her incredible England Lionesses-themed sculpture for Pride of Yorkshire, designed by Sheffield muralist 💙

A proud patron of Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, .morgan signed the sculpture ready for the trail, and even modelled our brand new Pride of Yorkshire sports kits 👀

At this rate, we think she might get a call up from Pride of Yorkshire FC!

Just a week ago, something very special happened at the Utilita Arena Sheffield 🦁

All 150 Pride of Yorkshire lions came together under one roof for our spectacular preview event, giving artists, sponsors, schools and supporters a first look at the pride before the trail launches on June 8th.

And what a night it was! ❤️

The lion sculptures will be on display right across South Yorkshire, helping to raise vital funds towards the major transformation of the Emergency Department at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

Here’s a little taste of what’s to come 👀🦁
