SOLD! The Pride are off to their new homes after our two auctions, held this weekend online and at the Crucible Theatre 🦁
These auctions were packed with great moments, from nail-biting bidding, to surprise guests! It’s so hard to choose our favourite moment, so here are some highlights from our Sheffield Auction:
🩺 Pete McKee shares the inspiration behind The Transplant Game and what bringing his personal experience of transplantation to the trail meant.
🎥 Thomas Turgoose from This is England helps us bang the gavel on As Seen On Screen by Ryan Mosley, and tells some tales of his time filming in Sheffield with Warp Films over the years.
🎙️ Richard Hawley joins Lucy Crapper on stage to talk about what it means to have his music recognised twice on the trail – once by Grey Suit Clay for Cherish the Light, and once by Lydia Monks with Heart of Oak. He also shares how Sheffield Children’s has helped him – and so many other Sheffield legends – including ‘ar kid (that’s Jarvis Cocker, to you and me).
⚽ Sheffield United right-back Femi Seriki joins Andy Parker on stage to tell the fans why they shouldn’t paws to get their bids in for Roar Like A Blade by Dave Draws.
💛 Generous bidders in the room pledge to send A Little Birdie Told Me by Zoe Genders to the newly formed Pride Garden at Sheffield Children's Hospital, and Tchad Western talks about how it will bring patients and their families joy whenever they visit for generations to come.
🦉 Chris McClure steps up to share how Echoes of Hillsborough by Zoe Burgar has been admired over the summer by Sheffield Wednesday fans, and how their presence has ushered in a new era for the club. An intense bidding war got underway, and saw this lion sell for £26,000 – the highest of the night!
🥁Nick Banks, the drummer from Pulp stops by to help find Do You Recall? by Sian Ellis a new home. He commented on its bold colours and iconic glasses, and even promised he’d bring the band together to get this lion signed for his new home.
Our team are hard at work calculating the total raised from this auction, our Doncaster online auction, our pre-sold sculptures and past prize draws. We’ll share our total as soon as we have it! A reminder that the money raised during these auctions - and the wider Pride of Yorkshire campaign - will contribute towards the redevelopment of the Emergency Department at Sheffield Children's 💙
