The youth presenters had the pleasure of interviewing Kevin McKenna again yesterday talking about all sorts of local issues such as youth services and transport, they also asked questions sent in by listeners such as the difficulty buying houses, queries about his travel expenses not being claimed and the lost support from KCC to SEN Young people 16+. The MP told us he is in full support of the young people affected by KCC changes and is trying to get answers and a resolution, he is struggling getting on the housing market himself as even he is out priced but says government reforms on housing are incoming and more information on this in future months, he has advocated changes in transport that have increased trains and bus services and more positive changes are coming, he was excited to announce the new Youth Hub opening for Swale which will help young people gain all important skill, advice and support. There was also discussions about the masts and the Montgomery where Kevin asked the young people what that piece of history ment to them. Regarding travel expenses McKenna said he chooses not to claim them as he feels the cost to sittingbourne to London is low enough for him to pay himself and not deplete government funds which could be better spent on those that have further to travel. Thank you for coming in again and spending time with our young presenter and I know they look forward to the next visit in a couple of months. H

Well done Abbie, Jake, Jake, Sunny, Nico and Joe.

Today, some of our youth presenters weโ€™re privileged enough to me joined by Raymond Featherstone the Senior leader and founder of Sheerness Youth Club in Meyrick Road. They spoke about the history of youth services on the island and Kent, how the funding and support for youth services is dwindling and his personal campaign to keep youth services alive, Ray promoted the Youth Club that runs on a Wednesday at the Centre for 12-19 years olds where they can play pool, table tennis, board games, radio skills, dancing and singing on their stage, video games and more, every 2 weeks they have a food tasting session where they get to taste different flavours and in a restaurant style. Ray spoke of wanting to bring back a Friday Disco for under 18s and a youth club in Tuesdays but needs more volunteers to make this happen, please get in touch with him if you can help. Ray also mentioned other youth club services run from Meyrick Road by other organisations such as Sheppey Matters on the Monday and Vibe on the Thursday and Saturday. If you want anymore information about any of the youth services spoke about please get in touch and we will be happy to help. Thank you for coming in Ray and we look forward to your next update.

Kevin McKenna and our fantastic youth team.

Today MP for Sheppey and Sittingbourne, Kevin McKenna came into the studio to spend some time with our fantastic youth presenters. He was very impressed with the young people and the work they do, so much so he has invited them to parliament. Whilst at the studio he done an on air interview with the young presenters answering listener questions and some interesting questions from the youngsters too, topics included; support for farmers and the inheritance tax, environmental issues and the look of the streets, disabled transport at the local hospital and social media bans for children. The MP also spoke about how great he feels the Isle of Sheppey is and some of his favourite things about the Island.
