The Hospital Players are the longest running amateur dramatics group in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshir We are a very friendly amateur dramatics group.

The Hospital Players is the longest running amateur dramatic group in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, originally opening the tabs in 1943. The Hospital Players currently put on 3 shows a year at Scunthorpe’s Plowright Theatre. As a group we pride ourselves on giving the best performances possible, but we think it's very important to have fun along the way! The Hospital Players regularly rehearse at the Grange Farm Community Centre in Scunthorpe. Putting on a play involves so much more than rehearsing a script. As a group we design and build our own sets; design, record and edit our own sound and lighting plot. We write, film and edit our own trailers, design the posters, source and sometimes make the costumes, and so much more! There are plenty of things to get involved with on and off the stage, and we always welcome new members to the group. So if you're looking to join a fun, exciting and friendly group then look no further. You can be as involved as you want to be! Well it’s been almost a week since we closed the tabs on Nana Does Vegas but before we close the doors of the El Tropical Casino for good, there’s one final jackpot to celebrate…

Nana’s Big Raffle raised a whopping £264 for The Health Tree Foundation!

A huge thank you to everyone who bought tickets and supported the raffle throughout the run. Every ticket helped us raise this fantastic amount for such a brilliant local cause.

And, of course, congratulations to all of our lucky winners! We hope you enjoyed taking home a little piece of the El Tropical Casino with you.

From the cast, crew and everyone at The Hospital Players, thank you for helping make Nana Does Vegas such a fantastic run; on stage and beyond.

The chips may be down, the casino may be closing, but what a way to leave Vegas!

It’s our final show tonight, and our last spotlight belongs to the woman who has been running the whole damn casino.

Our illustrious director, Jan Gregory (pictured left).

Alongside directing, she’s been designing the set, working on costumes, helping shape the look and feel of the production and throwing herself into just about every aspect of bringing Nana and the gang to the El Tropical Casino.

From the first rehearsal to opening night, Jan has been at the heart of it all, juggling ideas, solving problems, refining performances and making sure every last detail is perfect for our audiences.

So tonight, we raise a glass to the woman behind the curtain, the creative force keeping the casino running. Our fabulous director, Jan Gregory, take a bow. You’ve more than earned it.

Our opening night was superb, so today, we’re turning the spotlight away from the stage and onto the people who make the magic happen behind it.

Nana Does Vegas wouldn’t be possible without our brilliant crew!

From our Stage Manager and Assistant Stage Manager keeping everything on track, to our lighting and sound teams creating the atmosphere, our props team adding all those important details, and our incredible set-building and painting team who have transformed the Plowright Theatre into the El Tropical Casino.

They’ve put in countless hours, solved countless problems and made sure that when the curtain goes up, everything is ready.

They might not take the bows, but they are every bit as important to the show as the cast.

So, a huge thank you to our fantastic crew: Andy, Steve L, June, Louise, John, Steve B, Liam, and Graham (and all the other wonderful helpers and supporters we have had along the way)… we couldn’t have done it without you!

It’s our opening night!!!

The doors to the El Tropical Casino will finally open at 7:30 SHARP!

Tonight, Nana Does Vegas officially opens at the Plowright Theatre. After months of rehearsals, laughs and hard work, it’s finally time to let the show begin.

The lights are on, the stakes are high and the casino is ready.

The lights are on… the set is up… Vegas is ready!

Yesterday was our big get in day at the Plowright Theatre, and what a day it was!

From early starts to late finishes, the cast and crew were hard at work transforming the theatre into the glittering world of Nana Does Vegas.

Set building? Done.
Lights and sound? Sorted.
Technical rehearsal? Complete.
Exhausted? Absolutely!
Excited? More than ever!

It was a long day, but one that was thoroughly enjoyable; and seeing everything finally come together on the Plowright stage made every minute worth it.

Now there’s just one thing left to do…
