✨ Another fun-filled week at Brownies! ✨
This week, we continued exploring activities from our Skills for My Future theme – and there was plenty of problem-solving, creativity, teamwork and laughter along the way! 💛
🐝 Think on Your Feet! 🐾
First, it was time for our Brownies to step into the shoes of an animal rescuer and put their quick-thinking skills to the test!
Working in pairs, the girls took turns being an animal and a rescuer. They were then given all sorts of unusual situations to act out and solve…
🐝 A tired bee
🐱 A cat with a hairball
🐹 A squealing guinea pig
🪱 A worm stuck on a path
…and plenty more!
The rescuers had to think on their feet and decide what they could do to help their animal.
Some of their solutions were incredibly thoughtful and showed some brilliant problem-solving skills… while others had us all laughing! 😂
Our personal favourite had to be the Brownie whose solution for helping a tired bee was simply to tell it to wake up! 🐝😂
It was a great activity for encouraging the girls to think independently, react to unexpected situations and come up with creative solutions – all while having lots of fun!
🤖 Brownie Bots! 💻
Next, our leaders became robots… and the Brownies became our software engineers!
Their mission sounded simple:
➡️ Write a code that would instruct their leader to pick up a beanbag, bring it back to a chair, put it on the chair and then sit on the floor.
Easy, right? 🤔
Well… not quite! 😂
The girls quickly discovered that computers (and Brownie leaders pretending to be computers!) will only do exactly what they're told.
They worked hard to make their instructions as clear and specific as possible – but quite a few groups forgot one very important instruction…
They forgot to tell us to get OFF the chair before sitting on the floor! 😂🤦♀️
Back to the drawing board it was!
The girls had to debug their codes, spot where things had gone wrong and make changes before testing them again. They showed fantastic perseverance and refused to give up until their code worked correctly.
Eventually, every group completed the mission! 🎉
We definitely have some future software engineers and coders in the making! 👩💻🌟
🐻 Bonnie Bear!
This week, Bonnie Bear went home with Michaela! Michaela threw herself into the activities and showed so much enthusiasm – whether she was taking on the role of a rescuer or becoming one of our animals! 😂
Well done, Michaela! We hope you and Bonnie have lots of fun together this week! 🐻💛
