Scarborough Survivors Scarborough Survivors is a Mental Health Charity (1044058) founded in 1994 by service users PLEASE NOTE, this page is not an emergency service.

We do try to reply to messages as soon as we can but at busy times/out of opening hours there is often a delay. If you require immediate help please consider phoning 999, the Samaritans on 116 123 (you do not have to feel suicidal to speak to them) or the local out-of-hours mental health helpline 0300 0200 317. th and wellbeing hub serving the Borough of Scarborough. It has became renowned for its work and is used as a model for similar groups set up around the country. As part of its work it offers a local self-supporting group and is made up entirely of people with direct experience of mental health problems, either personally or as a carer, close relative or friend. As a user-led organisation, the emphasis is on self-help and sharing information gained from personal experience. A key element of Scarborough Survivors' work is to represent the voice of the service user on a wide range of committees and groups locally. Membership of the organisation is free and open to anyone over 16 with personal experience of mental illness. Scarborough Survivors operates a drop-in Mental Health Resource Centre and Crisis Cafe at 9 Alma Square, Scarborough YO11 1JR. The Resouce Cenre is open from 11.30am - 4.30pm, Monday - Sunday (7 days a week) and the Crisis Cafe is open from 7.30pm - 1am (7 nights a week). During the day we offer social contact with a strong focus on recovery, including the following:
- Social activities (writing, art & craft, walking, etc)
- Information & signposting to other services
- Listening ear and counselling
- CHIME courses
- Art therapy
- Dedicated youth space (16-25 years)
