A massive well done to Shirley, who completed the North Yorkshire Coast Ultra Challenge last Saturday to raise money for SWR Mind.

She set out to walk 50km, but after a slight wrong turn in Whitby and the finish line being a little further on, she ended up covering an incredible 53km. 👏

That meant around 12.5 hours of walking, over some much tougher and more uneven terrain than expected, and more than 80,000 steps in total.

Shirley has already raised an amazing £900, with donations still coming in. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported her.

We had a brilliant day yesterday at the North Yorkshire Youth in Community event.

It was really encouraging to see so many youth leaders coming together to talk about how we can better support young people in our communities.

A big part of the conversation was the need to work together to create more safe spaces for young people—something we desperately need more of across Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale.

🗻 Base Camp is now accepting referrals!

Base Camp is our activity-led wellbeing project for neurodivergent boys aged 11–16, offering a supportive space to build confidence, emotional resilience and positive connections.

Through outdoor, creative and wellbeing-based activities, young people can take part in meaningful sessions designed to help them feel more understood, supported and able to manage their mental health.

We’re now accepting referrals for young people who may benefit from this support.

Not long to go before our Shirley takes on her incredible challenge for SWR Mind 💙

On 20 June, Shirley will be walking 50k — around 30 miles — from Whitby to Scarborough as part of the North Yorkshire Ultra Challenge.

She’s raising money to support local mental health services across Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale, helping us continue to provide support when people need it most.

Shirley has already smashed her original target, but every extra donation will help us make an even bigger difference.
