🎉 Congratulations to James, Paddy and Paul and Nicki! 🎉

They’ve successfully completed the Lyke Wake Walk – an incredible 40-mile trek across the North York Moors – and we couldn’t be prouder of their achievement.

Taking on such a demanding challenge is no small feat, and they did it all to raise money for the Rainbow Centre and support the people who rely on our services every day.

A huge thank you to everyone who has already donated and cheered them on along the way. Your support means so much.

If you haven’t had chance to donate yet, there’s still time. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us continue our work supporting vulnerable people in our community.

Please support their amazing effort here:

Well done, James, Paddy, Paul & Nicki and thank you for going the extra mile… or 40 of them! 🌈❤️🥾

Today, Rose , Client Support Manager at the Rainbow Centre, and Emma, Rough sleeping coordinator for Scarborough, Whitby and Filey visited Pinder House in Skipton to meet with Vicky and learn more about the homelessness provision available in the area.

The visit provided an excellent opportunity to see the accommodation and support services on offer, discuss the challenges facing the sector, and share ideas and best practice around supporting people experiencing homelessness.

The Rainbow Centre would like to thank Vicky and the team at Pinder House for their warm welcome and for taking the time to showcase the valuable work they do. Strong partnerships and collaboration between organisations are vital in ensuring the best possible outcomes for people affected by homelessness.🌈

Keeping a mobile phone charged can be a real challenge when you’re sleeping rough, but having access to a phone is often essential for staying in touch with support services, employers, family and friends.

Our support worker Richard has been working with the Digital Poverty Alliance and Currys to secure a number of power banks that we can lend to our homeless clients, allowing them to charge their phones while out on the street.

We’re grateful to the Digital Poverty Alliance for helping us provide this practical support, which can make a real difference to people facing homelessness.

Huge thank you to Jack from Green Party of England and Wales who called in this afternoon to The Rainbow Centre with a kind donation of supplies for our food bank.

It is because of generous donations like this, that we can keep our Food Bank stocked. Thank you to Jack and everyone who contributed to the collection.

🚴‍♂️ It’s back! 🚴‍♀️

Following the huge success of last year’s Whitby to Scarborough Sponsored Bike Ride — where we raised over £1,500 through sponsorship — we’re doing it all over again on Saturday 18th July!

Cycling along the old railway line through the stunning coastal villages of Robin Hood’s Bay and Ravenscar, this is a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness and much-needed funds for The Rainbow Centre.

Last year’s event proved incredibly popular, so this time places will be limited to just 50 riders. We’d encourage anyone interested to sign up as soon as possible to avoid missing out.

James Howard, Fundraising Officer, said:

“This is such a great ride along the coast, with a few good climbs and some epic downhills. We had lots of fun last year and fully expect this year to be just as good. Please come and join us.”

We can’t wait to see you there! 🚲

👖 Clothing Appeal 👖

Bridget has been sorting through our clothing donations and, as you can see, some of the trousers we receive are a little too big for the people who need them!

We’re currently looking for:

• Men’s trousers and jeans (28” & 30” waist)
• Joggers and tracksuit bottoms (28” & 30” waist)
• New men’s boxers (28” & 30” waist)

These smaller sizes are always in short supply and greatly appreciated by our clients.

If you can help, donations can be dropped off at the Rainbow Centre during our opening hours of 9am - 2pm, Mon - Fri.

Thank you for your support ❤️

For the last week, The Rainbow Centre café has been replaying World Cup matches for our homeless clients who don’t have access to a TV.

The World Cup is something many of us take for granted being able to watch at home, so it’s been great to bring some of that excitement into the café and give people the chance to enjoy the tournament together.

This morning we’re watching the England match… but please, if you already know the score, don’t tell us! 🤫⚽

It’s been wonderful to see clients gathering together, sharing a brew, and enjoying the football in a warm and welcoming space.
