Salcombe Art Club is a community of enthusiastic artists situated in the heart of Salcombe. All welcome. Free admission. Come and see what we have been up to.

Salcombe Art Club is a thriving club situated in the heart of Salcombe. It was born in 1960, when a small group of enthusiastic painters rented a disused sail loft, which they eventually bought and updated. Built of stone and approached outside by a flight of stone steps it’s a charming building to visit. The aim of the Salcombe Art Club is to strengthen the art community in Salcombe, offering a variety of courses and classes, as well as a stunning yearly exhibiton to showcase th work of local artists. Every year when spring comes round, the Salcombe Art Club members scrub up their winter work loft to turn it into a light-filled art gallery displaying a wide range of original artwork. Paintings, drawings, original hand-pressed prints and sculpture by selected professional and amateur artists are all for sale. This year’s exhibition has 33 participating artists and more than 150 pieces on display. From Easter until September 24th the loft will be open daily from 11 to 5. Fore more information about this event, visit our website. Also, in autumn and winter, a wide range of courses are run for the benefit of Salcombe Art Club members. Lay membership is great value. It not only gives you access to courses, but you help to support a strong creative community in Salcombe. For more information about upcoming courses this year, please visit our website:

Here is some more information about Karen Popham’s course at Salcombe Art Club.

“ Of particular interest to artists wishing to explore a different medium. Previous students have included a water colourist who was really excited to explore oils and thrived over 5 sessions. She is now defining herself as an oil painter. The course offers a safe space to experiment and develop with positive guidance tailored to the individual and what best suits them.’Of particular interest to artists wishing to explore a different medium.
