At Kingsbridge Air Cadets, you could find yourself doing things you never expected — getting airborne, learning survival skills, taking on challenges, travelling, working as part of a team and discovering what you're capable of.

You don't need to know anything about aviation.

As a parent, you probably want to know what your child actually gets from joining.

Yes, there are exciting activities.

Yes, there are opportunities to fly.

Yes, there are camps, competitions and adventures.

But there are also the things that aren't always as obvious.

Cadets learn to:

✅ Work as part of a team
✅ Take responsibility
✅ Communicate with others
✅ Deal with new situations
✅ Develop confidence
✅ Learn practical skills
✅ Set themselves goals
✅ Challenge themselves

They also get the chance to meet people, make friends and experience things outside their normal school environment.

And they don't need to be the most confident person in the room when they join.

That's part of what they're here to develop.

“But what actually happens when my child joins?”

It's a question we hear a lot.

A typical cadet evening isn't simply standing around in uniform.

Cadets might spend an evening learning about aviation, practising first aid, developing their leadership skills, taking part in sport, preparing for an expedition, learning navigation — or doing something completely different.

There is a structured programme, but there's also plenty of opportunity to try new things and discover what they enjoy.

And they don't need to arrive knowing anything about the Air Cadets.

We'll teach them.

Air Cadets is about a lot more than aircraft. ✈️

Flying might be what first gets your attention, but it's only part of what our cadets can experience.

Depending on their interests, cadets can get involved in:

🧭 Navigation and fieldcraft
🩹 First aid
🏃 Sport and fitness
🎓 Qualifications and awards
👥 Leadership
🏆 Competitions
🌍 Camps and new experiences
🤝 Friendships that can last for years

And the best bit?

Cadets don't have to know what they're interested in before they join.

They get the chance to try things.

✈️ 7 FLIGHTS IN 2 WEEKS!

Over the past two weeks, 7 of our cadets have taken to the skies! ✈️

Last Friday 4 more cadets had an opportunity to undertake an Air Experience Flight.

Flying is one of the experiences that makes Air Cadets so different — giving young people the opportunity to experience aviation for themselves and challenge themselves in a completely new way.

And flying is just one of the opportunities available.

From adventure training and shooting to expeditions, leadership, competitions and much more, there's always something new to try.
