Today was our June session at Saffron Walden Youth Darts academy at the earlier time of 10am, Thank you to our regulars and once again welcome to our newest recruits.

We did our unicorn practice routine throughout the session with all coaches today, including Coach Boon, Coach Bryan, Coach Alan, Coach Steve, Coach Pete and Coach Kev.

We run a singles competition with the beginners with Coach Alan running this, some very good and improved darts especially as alan pushed them in this session, with them going for a double out.
Coach Boon worked with a few beginners on a 121 basis, working on there aim and confidence.
With the intermediates and advanced Coach Bryan and Coach Pete run a singles Round Robin, we witnessed some fantastic darts thrown by everyone. And some superb matches, one between Riley and Oakley was one for me that stood out, brilliant scoring and shots out by both players and the respect that was shown was fantastic by both players, well done.

Coach Kev and Coach Steve completed some unicorn challenges with the guys, seeing some brilliant numbers. They also worked with some of the guys on there aim and confidence building.

We had our presentation at the end of the session as always ......

Player of the June Session:
Esmee - what a fantastic session you have had, winning all your games, hitting your needed doubles, then scoring some games aswel. A very successful session for you esmee , well done 👏
Kameron- for the second straight session you have hit the highest unicorn score, your confidence in playing your games has not gone unnoticed, some fantastic scoring, the respect you have shown to your fellow players is wonderful.

Special mentions -
A huge well done to our new recruit today Aaron who got the highest Score for the intermediate's in the Unicorn Challenge and also had some very good matches, he did very well indeed as he played some of our advanced guys aswel, well done Aaron a beautiful throw you have, we are looking forward to what you can achieve at our next session.

We would like to say a massive THANK YOU to the Uttlesford Community Grant Scheme, with there generosity our 5 coach's were able to attend and achieve accredited coaching courses, with Coach Alan achieving his Sightright accreditation and Coach Karina, Coach Bryan, Coach Pete, Coach Alan and Coach Boon achieving a PDPA level 1 coaching accreditation. We are so grateful to this scheme as these coaching courses are and will benefit all our youth players at Saffron Walden Youth Darts Academy. 2 weeks ago alan had a very productive 121 with Logan, Logan is the first of our Saffron Walden Youth Darts academy players to achieve his first 4 certificates in the PDPA single to 180 program, he achieved his Single, Double Treble and Checkout Grade levels. Last night was the finals night for Thursday's Saffron Walden Friendly Dart League,
A fabulous 1st season for you all, Turpins Youth will be in division 1 next season. well done guys.

Well done to:
Riley, Ben and Coach Boon for getting Runners up in the 3's final, losing to our other Turpins team, Coach Keith, Coach Wayne and Tony.

Well done to Ben for Winning the charity bulleye competition, held on the night.

Well done for our other turpins team for Winning the League which include Coach Keith, Coach Wayne and Coach Bob.

Well done to Coach Keith for Winning the pairs with his Paul

Well done to Coach Boon for coming runner up in the Charity Singles Final.

This also saw the final of the Saffron Walden Round Robin singles competition, between Ben and Brayden.
It was a fantastic game, with brilliant darts thrown.

And we crowned Brayden the 2026 Saffron Walden Youth Dart Academy Singles Champion.
Congratulations brayden your darts were amazing and your mind set was fantastic.
Commiserations to Ben who played great, and has had a very successful season, we are looking forward to this darting rivalry. We are so proud.

We had a busy couple of evenings with finals nights for our youth dart teams starting with the Thurlow league darts finals night on friday evening:
The Turpins Youth team had a fantastic season surpassing there achievements of the 1st session.
A big well done to Ben for Winning the blind pairs charity competition.
And Coach Alan for getting Runners up in the Captains cup for the second consecutive season.

With the late cancellation due to a venue clash on Saturday at our regular venue at the Saffron walden football club, we managed to still run a small limited number session from our Thursday/ Friday team venue at turpins indoor bowls club.
A massive thank you to everyone that attended yesterday at our May session.

As always we did our unicorn practice routine at the beginning of the session with all coaches today, including Coach Boon, Coach Bryan, Coach Alan, Coach Keith, Coach Pete, Coach Kev and Coach Wayne.

For the beginner's Coach Boon and Coach Alan run a pairs competition, we saw alot of brilliants thrown, also some fantastic checkouts aswel. For the intermediate's Coach Bryan run a singles competition along with a variety of games, which saw alot of the guys scoring for themselves. Well done guys.

Coach Pete run a singles competition with the Advanced, and they did some unicorn challenges, working again on techniques, we also welcomed Archie and George to the advanced group, well done on a brilliant first Session.

Coach Kev worked with some of the beginners so they could complete another unicorn Challenge.
