Robert and Matt's Scouting Adventures

27/09/2026

30+ miles hiked in 24 hours, only a couple of hours sleep, and all his food supplies eaten (what a surprise!), Robert and his Jailbreak team finished in second place! Quite an accomplishment, and an improvement on last year where they didn’t quite make it to the finish before the deadline.
Well done to everyone else who took part, especially Robert’s Explorer Unit’s other team who finished in 1st place!👏🏻🫡

Saffron Walden Jailbreak this weekend for Robert and his Explorer Scout Unit. 24 hours of navigation, dodging hunters, expedition-style cooking and sleeping rough. Everyone’s looking forward to the challenge!

And with new scarfs and badges comes investitures!🫡 All our Scouts and leaders were invested into the Iceland 2027 Expedition Unit “The Guardians of the Glaciers” at Prep Camp #2. It’s starting to feel very real now!🇮🇸

Our Iceland 2027 Expedition’s unit identity is certainly coming together, with our Scouts’ own scarf and unit badge design becoming a reality!🥰👏🏻

A fantastic weekend of activities at Riffhams Scout Park for Iceland ‘27 Expedition Prep Camp #2. It’s great to see our Scouts really developing their relationships and demonstrating teamwork and leadership skills. Activity bases for trip planning, health and hygiene, first aid and backwoods cooking, an international trading challenge, along with cooking dinner and entertaining special guests, certainly got their grey matter working, all helping to build a strong unit for the adventures to come!

Not a Scouting adventure in the truest sense, as it’s a family trip this time, but still using Scout skills on our visit to Wales: Kit control, navigating, hiking and cooking outdoors (is Glamping still camping?!🤣).
