The Rotary Club of Rushden

The Rotary Club of Rushden The Rotary Club of Rushden plays a major role in helping to improve the lives of people locally, nationally and internationally.

The Rotary Club of Rushden was granted its charter in 1935. Originally the membership comprised mainly business owners connected with the footwear trade, for which the Northamptonshire area was principally connected at the time. Our regular meeting night is Wednesday and fortnightly meetings are held at John White Golf Club, Rushden, NN10 0SA. The Club now has four levels of membership – Full Memb

ership, Family Membership, Associate Membership, and Corporate Membership. Rotary is not in any way religious nor is it an exclusive organisation. Our Members are men and women from all walks of life who want to help and do good. The Club prides itself on having a relaxed and friendly nature, with varied activities of a social, fellowship and charitable fundraising nature. If The Rotary Club of Rushden is the kind or organisation you think you would like to be involved with or if you just want to find out more about Rotary, please get in touch with us by phone or email and find out how you can make a real difference. Our enigmatic long serving member Mike Neville say's goodbye to the brand that was so successful for many years in Rushden as the premier Estate Agents in our town!

Big day at our Rushden Office with the rebrand from Mike Neville to O'Riordan Bond so it was great to see Mike Neville himself pop into the office to catch up with James Coles and team

James was brought into the industry by Mike over three decades ago and it was good to see Mike looking so well after all these years

He still has the golden touch – whilst he was in branch the team agreed sales on three properties in Rushden…you never lose it!

On June 9th, The Rotary Club of Rushden Impact Group organised a beetle drive at Higham Ferrers SAS-Sports and Social Club . This was really well supported by a number of Rotarians and friends (some of whom had never played "beetle" before!). At the start of the evening, many of the players were really casual in their approach - this lasted about 5 minutes and by the end of the evening there was some very frantic dice throwing and beetle drawing. All those present enjoyed a chip supper (and if you had room, cakes were also available). This fun evening was raising funds for Horses for Good a Rushden based organisation rehabilitating horses and people in a therapeutic environment.

An evening of song with The Northampton Male Voice Choir
The Club organised a fundraising concert at St Mary’s Church in Higham Ferrers on 6th June, with a performance from the award-winning Northampton Male Voice Choir and its musical director Stephen Bell.

Some 150 people attended and were treated to a variety of well-known songs sung by 70 of the choir’s 100+ choristers, including several relatively new recruits.

A large group of Rotary club members ably assisted the performers, providing refreshments and administering the successful concert.

Surplus funds, which will be announced in due course, will be donated to the Prostate Cancer Charity, and the Rotary Club’s future local youth and schools events.

Inner Wheel 79th Charter Lunch
President Anton writes…..At the beginning of June I attended the 79th Charter Celebration of The Inner Wheel Club of Rushden. The lunch was at The Pizzeria Venezia in Rushden (thank you Cesare and your team!) and some 65 members, guests, Rotarians and visitors from other Inner Wheel Clubs enjoyed lunch together. Naturally there are many similarities between Rotary and Inner Wheel and it was good to hear that both Clubs in Rushden had increased their membership over the past 2 years – long may this continue. The image shows President Anton together with Brenice Willmott (Inner Wheel President) and Glenys Hasdell ( Inner Wheel District 7 Chair)

For many years Rotary and Bill Gates have championed the eradication of End Polio Now and have almost acheived it's aims. A final push in the coming years will hopefully see off this cruel affliction!
