What a day at the Heads Up League last Friday! ⚽💙

Massive congratulations to all of our Recovery House residents who took part with 3 wins & 2 draws. The effort, teamwork, and positivity on display made us all proud. It’s not just about the football, it’s about showing what’s possible in recovery, and you all did exactly that.

A special shoutout to Aaron for winning the Fair Play Award 🏆 – a brilliant achievement and fully deserved. This represented everything the day stood for and how we aim to approach competitive sport.

💚 Help us change lives through recovery 💚

We’ve now launched our 2026 fundraiser to support Recovery House — our safe, structured environment where men can rebuild their lives free from addiction.

Recovery isn’t just about stopping using — it’s about rebuilding confidence, restoring relationships, and creating a future full of hope. Our programme provides a stable home, therapeutic support, and a real chance at long-term recovery.

But we can’t do this alone.....

Every donation, no matter how small, helps us continue providing life-changing support to those who need it most.

🙏 If you can, please donate here:

📢 And if you’re not in a position to give, sharing this post can make a huge difference.

Together, we can help people move from survival to recovery — and from recovery to a meaningful, fulfilling life.

A huge thank you to AFC Rushden & Diamonds Walking Football Club for hosting our residents this month for a fun filled evening of competition and comradery.

The AFC Rushden & Diamonds Walking Football club's spokesperson had this to say:

DIAMONDS SUPPORT ‘ROAD TO RECOVERY’!
Following on from a immensely successful friendly fixture last April, AFC Rushden & Diamonds Walking Football Club (AFC R&D WF) were delighted to have the opportunity of hosting another match against the residents of Recovery House.

The fixture took place on the evening of Wednesday 4th March at the excellent outdoor facilities at the Sharnbrook Academy. The guys from RH were great company and provided challenging opposition with Diamonds tested all over the pitch.

However, over a series of six 12-minutes games, played to the FA’s Walking Football rules (a new experience for the Recovery House residents), it was Diamonds who ran out overall winners on the night with three wins, a draw and two defeats.

Commenting on the event, Alan Wookey, AFC R&D WF chairman, said “I wish to congratulate both sides, the players, match official Richard Brooks-Harley and those who came along to offer their support. It was great to see so many involved in what was an excellent evening of football.” He added: “Engagement with our local communities through Walking Football is an important part of our focus and we sincerely hope the experience went someway to helping the residents of RH on their journey.”

Recovery Services Manager, Matt Baker was equally praising saying: “Everybody had a great time. We have a guy who played who has only been with us for two days and he said he hasn't enjoyed himself like that for years. Please pass on our thanks once more to the rest of the team for helping us provide this opportunity for our guys!”

AFC Rushden & Diamonds Walking Football are always seeking new players so why not come along, meet new friends, and get to enjoy kicking a ball around again. Join us on Monday evenings at The Ferrers School in Higham Ferrers from 7:15pm for 7:30pm for a taster session. To find out more go to www.diamondswalkingfootball.co.uk

We were proud to be part of the High Sheriff’s Mentoring Conference on Friday 20th of March and to stand alongside so many incredible organisations committed to supporting the role of mentoring in the community.

The day was a powerful reminder of just how important mentoring is in helping people rebuild their lives after addiction and offending. At Recovery House, we see every day the difference that consistent support, encouragement, and belief can make — and this conference reinforced that shared mission across our community.

Hearing the honest and inspiring stories from those with lived experience was especially moving. It takes real courage to turn your life around, and even more to give back by supporting others on their journey. That is where real change happens.

Opportunities like this to connect, share best practice, and strengthen partnerships are invaluable. We’re grateful to have been part of such a meaningful and inspiring day, and we look forward to continuing to work alongside others to build stronger recovery pathways in our community.

Thank you to everyone involved in making the day such a success and especially to Jeremy, The High Sheriff of Northamptonshire for organising this event.

Team Changes

We have some news regarding an upcoming change to the Recovery House team. JB will be stepping back from his role as Support Worker at Recovery House from 3rd April and will transition into a new role within the project.

On behalf of the charity, and all those he has supported along the way, I want to take a moment to recognise and sincerely thank JB for his dedication, commitment, and the lasting impact he has made during his time in post.

JB has been a consistent and positive presence now for 10 years, supporting individuals with compassion and understanding. His contribution has gone far beyond the day-to-day responsibilities of the role, as he has played a huge part in developing our social media presence, helping to raise awareness of the work we do, celebrate recovery, and strengthen our connection with the wider community. This has been invaluable in showcasing the spirit and purpose of our services.

While we are sad to see him step back from this role, we are pleased that he will remain part of the project, continuing to contribute in a new capacity.

As a result of this change, the Support Worker role will now be advertised.
